Julianne Hough is supported by her husband Brooks Laich after she announced she's 'not straight': 'So proud of my wife'

During an interview for the September issue of Women's Health, Julianne Hough revealed that she's 'not straight.'

And her husband of two years, Brooks Laich, has nothing but support and love for his wife.

The 36-year-old Canadian ice hockey player posted a public message of support for Hough on Instagram Thursday, writing: 'So proud of my wife @juleshough for the woman she is, and her courage to share her journey of trials and triumphs! You can learn more about it below, and join the movement she is creating surround personal transformation and growth! Love you so much babe!'

Hough, 31, told the magazine it was awkward breaking the news to Brooks about her sexuality.

'I [told him], "You know I'm not straight, right?" And he was like, "I'm sorry what?" I was like, "I'm not. But I choose to be with you,"' she explained.

Hough has never discussed dating women in the past, and she didn't elaborate on whom she has dated.

'I think there's a safety with my husband now that I'm unpacking all of this, and there's no fear of voicing things that I've been afraid to admit or that I've had shame or guilt about because of what I've been told or how I was raised,' she added.

Though there has been no reporting on her dating women, her relationship with men has been well documented.

Hough dated former DWTS co-star Mark Ballas from 2002 until 2004 then was engaged to Zack Wilson from 2006 until 2007.

She next dated Chuck Wicks from 2008 until 2009 and was with Ryan Seacrest from April 2010 to March 2013.

In February 2014, it was revealed that she began dating NHL player Laich, then of the Washington Capitals, in December 2013.

The couple announced their engagement on August 18, 2015 and they were married on July 8, 2017.

Hough, who stars on America's Got Talent, also said that she feared her husband wouldn't vibe with her evolution.

'I was connecting to the woman inside that doesn't need anything, versus the little girl that looked to him to protect me,' she said.

'I was like, "Is he going to love this version of me?" But the more I dropped into my most authentic self, the more attracted he was to me. Now we have a more intimate relationship.'

'I've always put it out there that it's going to be okay,' she said, touching on her battle with endometriosis.
