Aaron Carter came clean and revealed he lied about why he went to rehab in 2017, during his return appearance on The Doctors.

During the interview, the 31-year-old singer, who was trying to convince his mother to get treatment for her alcohol abuse, interrupted hosts Dr. Travis Stork and Dr. Judy Ho to confess the real reason why he sought treatment on the show two years ago.

'I have to apologize to you , because I lied to you when I came here,' Carter began.

'I have a truth I am going to reveal right now. The reason why I went to rehab is because of huffing aerosols, duster cans, that's why I went.'

During that earlier appearance, which was precipitated by publicity over his jaunt appearance and drug-related arrests, Carter tested negative for illegal drugs, but tested positive for benzodiazepines [Xanax] and opiates.

He had maintained he had lost an alarming amount weight due to anxiety and a hernia.

'I lied to you and I'm sorry,' he continued in the new interview.

'I'm here to make amends, do the first step of 12-step, admit that I was powerless and I can believe in something greater than myself. Second, you know, make amends for my shortcomings.'

Carter also added that it was important for him to apologize to the hosts 'because I came in here in denial, okay? And that, in my opinion, after two years of being clean and sober from you guys.'

To hammer home his point and show sincerity, Carter looked into the eyes of both hosts and said: 'You guys saved my life and since that happened, I had to get my sh** together.'

Carter maintains he hasn't taken any drugs in the two years since, with the exception of a painkiller prescription after he had dental work.

Eventually the focus turned back to his mother Jane and her reported 'decades-old alcohol addiction.'

'My mother is struggling. She's a very bad alcoholic,' Carter told the doctors.

He said she has been drinking two to three pints of vodka every day for 17 years straight.

Alcohol is her best friend...She's ruined all of her relationships."

When asked by Dr. Stork about what "scares" him the most, Carter said,

'What scares me the most is that she is dying. I feel like if she doesn't get the help now, she's going to die in the next 6 months to a year.'

With the encouragement from her son and the hosts of The Doctors, Jane Carter agreed to go  to a rehabilitation facility for treatment.

'Many reasons to smile. I'm so proud of my mom and her allowing me to lead the way to get her the help that she deserved and will always deserve,' the singer began in the caption of an Instagram snap showing him with a big beaming smile on his face.

'I'm still learning, and I'm still growing and I plan on staying on the path of recovery for the rest of my life. One day at a time. It's important to be there for the ones that are your family because the disease of alcoholism and drugs are one of the same. I love you mom I'll never give up on you.'
