Meghan Markle dresses up an understated outfit with FIVE bracelets including one belonging to Princess Diana – and she's wearing the late royal's earrings, too

  • Meghan Markle, 38, wore over five bangles worth over £2,000 to charity launch
  • Duchess of Sussex dressed up her understated, simple outfit with the jewellery
  • Included a touching nod to Princess Diana by donning her bangle and earrings

The Duchess of Sussex dressed up an understated outfit with jewellery that once belonged to Princess Diana as she stepped out to launch her charity clothing range this afternoon.

Meghan Markle, 38 wore a gold bracelet and glittering diamond butterfly earrings from the late royal's personal collection as she arrived for the official unveiling of her Smart Set collection in London.

The family heirlooms were worn alongside an armful of gold bracelets worth more than £2,000, including ones the Duchess has worn on previous public outings.

The statement jewellery served to elevate the Duchess' otherwise pared back ensemble of a £120 Misha Nonoo shirt and £120 Jigsaw suit trousers, both of which are from her new charity range.

Join the Smart Set like Meghan in a white shirt by Misha Nonoo

The Duchess of Sussex's Smart Set capsule collection has just landed online, and of course Meghan chose to model some of the pieces at the launch event in London.

She collaborated with Jigsaw, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Misha Nonoo to create a trouser suit, dress and tote bag. But of course no Meghan collection would be complete without one of her signature shirts!

This is a take on the Misha Nonoo shirt that she wore at The Invictus Games way back in September 2017, and it's typical of her sophisticated style. Add in the Jigsaw trousers from the collection, a tan leather belt by Polo Ralph Lauren and matching Manolo Blahnik heels, and this is a look we want to copy.

It is not the first time the Duchess has dressed up an otherwise low-key look by layering up the jewellery.

At Princess Eugenie's wedding last year, the Duchess drew much comment for the rings she wore with her pared back look.

Meghan has long spoken of her love for stacking jewellery, and today was no different.

The royal looked in her own beloved collection for pieces , including the Shaun Leane Gold Signature Tusk Diamond Bracelet, which comes with a pricetag of £950, and the Zofia Day Open Diamond Cuff, which costs an estimated $1,200 (£972).

While Meghan's outfit was relatively understated, she donned thousands of pounds worth of jewellery including two pieces owned by Princess Dian

Meghan has worn the beautiful gold bracelet with blue stones on a number of occasions, including on her first tour as a royal to Australia and New Zealand.

She made a second tribute to Princess Diana by donning her famous beautiful earrings, first worn by the late Princess Diana of Wales on her 1986 royal tour to Canada.

Meghan is well known for her love of dressing up more simple understated outfits with decadent jewellery worth thousands.

At Princess Eugenie's wedding, the royal donned over £6,000 worth of jewellery by designer Pippa Small, including several intricate costume-style rings.

Meghan unveiled her full Smart Works collaboration earlier today, with all five items will be available to buy both in store and online from today.

The items include: a £19.50 dress from Marks & Spencer; a £109 John Lewis tote bag; a £120 shirt from Meghan's designer friend Misha Nonoo; and a £199 jacket and £120 trousers, both from Jigsaw.
