Chelsea's list of internal player fines for this season has been leaked with players turning up late to the start of a training session facing a huge £20,000 payment. A photograph has emerged on social media showing what the various punishments are for a series of infractions, including not reporting an illness or injury and a phone going off in a meal or meeting.  The former receives a £10,000 fine, while a player whose phone rings has to hand over £1,000.

Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez have stolen the headlines after their altercation during England training on Monday. The bust-up has led to Sterling being dropped from the side to face Montenegro, and left the Liverpool defender with a scratch under his right eye. It has prompted Sportsmail to trawl back through the archives and other training ground bust-ups through the years... 

The first thing you should know about Joe Gomez is this: the last thing he wants is his name pinned to back page headlines. Gomez is the antithesis of how some young footballers are viewed. There is nothing brash or flash about him; he lives a quiet life, one that revolves around hard work on a daily basis at Liverpool and doting on his fiancé, Tamara and their baby son, Kyrie. It's football, family and nothing else. Playing at Anfield means Gomez understands scrutiny but this is the first time in a career full of promise he has found himself in the middle of a storm and you can be certain he has found the experience disconcerting - not least as it was not of his making.

Gareth Southgate has defended his decision to drop Raheem Sterling from the England squad for Thursday's match with Montenegro, saying it was the 'right thing for the group' but refused to go into detail about his confrontation with Joe Gomez.  Sterling was dropped from the squad for the Euro 2020 qualifier at Wembley after a bust-up with Liverpool defender Gomez in the players' canteen at St George's Park on Monday. It followed an incident between Sterling and Gomez during the Premier League fixture between Liverpool and Manchester City on Sunday.

Liverpool are sweating over Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson's availability for their game against Crystal Palace as the pair struggle with ankle injuries. The Egyptian continues to be plagued by an ankle knock picked up in last month's win over Leicester. The 27-year-old was forced to miss the Premier League leader's 1-1 draw with Manchester United but has since returned to action in games against Manchester City, Genk and Aston Villa. However, pictures from Egypt training of Salah in a moon boot suggest the star forward has further aggravated the knock, and he will miss games against Kenya and Comoros.

Richard Keogh has launched his appeal against the terms of his sacking by Derby last month. The former captain was dismissed when he decided not to accept the offer of a vastly reduced salary for the remainder of his £1.3million-a-year contract, which was due to expire at the end of next season.  It is believed Derby received no direct contact from Keogh's team for most of the appeal period, while the Professional Footballers' Association are working with him.

Sean Cox was welcomed back to Anfield with open arms by the Liverpool players on Sunday.  It was his first time back at the stadium since he was assaulted by a Roma fan prior to the Champions League semi-final back in 2018.  The 53-year-old father of three was the victim of an unprovoked attack and was left with life-changing injuries. After 18 months of recovery at a rehabilitation centre in Sheffield he was able to go and watch his beloved Reds beat Manchester City 3-1 in a crucial encounter at the weekend.

England will play their 1,000th international when they host Montenegro in a Euro 2020 qualifier at Wembley on Thursday. There are 1,244 players who have worn the Three Lions shirt while 2,188 goals have been scored since the first international finished goalless in 1872. CZECH REPUBLIC 2-3 ENGLAND - CLAIRE BLOOMFIELD: England ended 2019 on a high as a late Williamson strike gave the Lionesses a 3-2 win to ease the pressure on under-fire boss Phil Neville in České Budějovice. The hosts had opened the lead in the 15th minute as Szewieckova was found in acres of space following shaky defending from England as she slotted past Carly Telford in goal. England struck back immediately via Bethany England before Beth Mead curled a beautiful strike from inside the box beyond the Czech keeper.

Jurgen Klopp had a hilarious response when he saw Pep Guardiola the day after their tense clash at Anfield. Liverpool and Manchester City played out a top of the table clash with Klopp's side emerging as 3-1 winners, while Guardiola was livid at a series of refereeing decisions. The Spaniard remonstrated at fourth official Mike Dean as he felt his team were denied two clear penalties for handball.

Michael Schumacher's former manager (inset) has made the extraordinary claim that his wife Corinna (pictured with her husband in Abu Dhabi in 2011, left, and with son Mick at the the German Sports Press Ball on Saturday, right) is HIDING the truth about the Formula One legend's condition almost six years on from his skiing accident. The seven-time world champion suffered a near-fatal brain injury in 2013, and has since been cared for at his Lake Geneva home by his wife and their two children Gina-Marie, 22, and Mick, 20.  His old manager and friend Willi Weber, though, believes all is not as it seems and after being banned from seeing the 50-year-old has claimed that Corinna is worried the 'truth' will be exposed.

Match of the Day X and England's official YouTube channel presenter Craig Mitch has been forced to apologise after calling Liverpool 'a s***hole' where 'people haven't got jobs'. The clip has surfaced from a show called Filthy Fellas which is still going but Mitch hasn't been on it since taking up the job with England. On Tuesday morning, Mitch apologised for his actions: 'There is a video of me making insensitive jokes about Liverpool from 5 years ago on Twitter.' Mitch is close with a number of England players and was pictured with Chelsea's Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount (inset) after a recent interview.

Rafael Nadal was defiant in his response to a journalist who questioned whether his recent wedding affected him in his surprise ATP Finals defeat by calling it 'bulls***'. Nadal was beaten 6-2, 6-4 by Alexander Zverev in his opening match of the group stage of the London tournament on Monday. World No 1 Nadal married longtime partner Xisca Perello in Mallorca last month and was angry that a reporter suggested his performance against Zverev could have been affected by that. 

The American management company have been quick to snap up talented defender Reece James (centre) as well as his sister Lauren (left), a forward for Manchester United, and their father Nigel, who runs his own elite coaching academy. Roc Nation will now manage the family's activities both on and off the pitch, including commercial deals, media relations and 'brand strategy'. The James clan joins the Roc Nation Sports International football family that consists of Jerome Boateng, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne, Eric Bailly and Axel Witsel.

Liverpool may have shown team spirit to emerge from a tough test against Manchester City but they also have an impressive set of individuals. And that much was clear from the photograph the Premier League leaders uploaded to their social media accounts. They gathered together their nominees for this year's edition of the Ballon d'Or for a photograph at their Melwood training base.
