Talent agency sues Louise Redknapp over £92,000 'unpaid fees'

InterTalent, based in Fitzrovia, central London, says it was not fully paid for helping her secure a part in the Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5. It also claims it did not receive fees from her role as an 'ambassador' for Specsavers and to advertise Harveys, the furniture retailer. The agency is bringing the claim at Central London County Court, and claims it had a verbal agreement to represent Redknapp for almost two years, from April 2017. The Evening Standard reports that that it is claimed a contract was drawn up but never signed and Ms Redknapp insists she does not have to pay commission on money she received after she left the agency in January this year. But InterTalent, run by celebrity agent Jonathan Shalit OBE, says the three deals were struck when Ms Redknapp was a client and it would be 'commercially absurd and unreasonable' for fees to be withheld because the money was received later. InterTalent is suing for £91,870.67 of alleged unpaid fees and expenses for its staff, the paper reports.

Boris Johnson unveils 10-year plan at Queen's Speech

Boris Johnson vowed to 'take Britain forward' today as the Queen's Speech unveiled his 10-year plan to seize the benefits of Brexit. Hitting the ground running after his bombshell election victory, the PM warned there is 'no time to waste' as he laid out a blizzard of legislation - from an NHS funding bonanza to a new immigration system. Police numbers will be bolstered by 20,000, stop and search powers beefed up to help tackle knife crime, and terrorists will lose rights to early release as ministers crack down on crime. There are also moves to drive house-building, and make the market fairer - a key demand for younger voters - including offering 30 per cent discounts for people buying properties in the area where they grew up. In a nod to the working-class voters in Leave-leaning seats whose support was critical to the defeat of Labour, Mr Johnson said the 'ambitious' package would 'spread opportunity to every corner of our United Kingdom'. Setting out his vision for two terms in power, Mr Johnson said his first priority would be getting Brexit secured by passing his divorce deal. But he made clear the Tory project would go much wider. 'This is a radical Queen's Speech - it will take us out of the EU, overhaul our immigration system, and will enshrine in law record investment for the NHS,' Mr Johnson said in a foreword. 'Just imagine where this country could be in 10 years' time.'

Britons can't ask whether a transgender person is male or female, judge says

A landmark ruling has found that there is no right to question whether a transgender person is a man or a woman. The employment tribunal case upheld the sacking of tax expert Maya Forstater (right, and, left, with fellow protesters), 45, over 'offensive' tweets questioning government plans to allow people to self-identify as another gender. Miss Forstater, who worked for the Centre for Global Development, was let go by the think tank after sharing her views on reforms to Gender Recognition Certificates. The case was viewed as a test of whether gender critical views - that there are only two biological sexes and it is not possible to change between them - could be protected philosophical beliefs under the 2010 Equality Act. Employment Judge James Tayler rejected that view in his landmark judgment, which said Miss Forstater's views are 'incompatible with human dignity and fundamental rights of others'.
