Jeremy Corbyn was left humiliated in the House of Commons today as he was jeered by Tory MPs for claiming Boris Johnson's Brexit deal will result in maggots in orange juice and rat hairs in paprika. Mr Corbyn claimed the UK would have to 'slash food standards' in order to secure a post-Brexit trade deal with the US as he said Labour will not back the Prime Minister's Withdrawal Agreement Bill at a crunch vote this afternoon at 2.30pm. But he was rounded on by Conservative backbenchers who dismissed the claims and delighted in pointing out that Mr Corbyn had been 'slaughtered' by voters at the general election last week. Mr Corbyn made his claims as Mr Johnson urged MPs to finally 'come together' and back his divorce accord as he put the UK firmly on course to leave the EU by the end of January. The Prime Minister said now was the time to 'reunite our country' after years of division over the UK's split from Brussels and to 'begin the healing'.

Anne Sacoolas (right), the wife of a US intelligence officer, returned to her home country after the car she was driving allegedly collided with the 19-year-old's motorbike outside RAF Croughton in Northamptonshire on August 27. The 42-year-old suspect sparked an international controversy after claiming diplomatic immunity - despite the Foreign Office later saying Sacoolas's husband was not a registered diplomat in a recognised role. Harry's parents Charlotte Charles, 44, (left) and Tim Dunn, 50, broke down today as they heard the news. The decision to charge the suspect came just days after Mrs Charles was left 'utterly devastated' by footage which showed Sacoolas reversing out of her driveway at her home in the state of Virginia.

The Christmas party season is in full swing across Britain as 'Thirsty Thursday' went with a bang last night. Tens of thousands of revellers swamped pubs and clubs in towns and cities across the country as they celebrated the end of the working year - and fired the starting pistol on the festive period. As the wine, beer and spirits flowed partygoers, many in fancy dress, danced and drank the night away with friends and colleagues before spilling out into the streets of London, Birmingham (centre right) and Leeds (left, centre left and far right). But a sizeable minority had one too many drinks with people seen vomiting, urinating in doorways, fighting each other, altercation with police (bottom right insert) or needing medical help after collapsing (bottom left inset). Today, the last Friday before Christmas, is dubbed 'Mad Friday' as workers across the country celebrate the start of the holiday season, often with heavy drinking. Others call it 'black eye Friday' because the boozing can lead to punch-ups and arrests. Police and paramedics are set for another busy night tonight and have said they 'won't act as babysitters' for those who get too drunk.

Pallbearers were seen carrying the coffin at Jack Merritt's funeral at Great St Mary's Church in Cambridge today. Mr Merritt and Saskia Jones were killed by Usman Khan during a prisoner rehabilitation event at Fishmongers' Hall in central London last month. Mr Merritt's parents Anne and David (main) arrived arm-in-arm to bid farewell to their beloved son (inset), along with girlfriend Leanne O'Brien (pictured just behind the Merritts), who appeared to be holding back tears.

He married Noor, 30, the daughter of a billionaire Qatari steel magnate, in 2012, following a whirlwind romance. They wed in a lavish ceremony at the Batiment des Forces Motrices, Geneva, with guests flown in from all over the world and put up in the Four Seasons Hotel. But soon after the wedding the marriage began to collapse and shortly after having their second child Noor left her husband and bought a London home. Meghan Markle can be seen smiling and looking comfortable while enjoying the dances at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in 1996, 1997 and 1998 - two decades before she became a member of the Royal Family. One of the photographs shows Meghan - then 16 and at Immaculate Heart High School - smiling with then-boyfriend Luis Segura (right), who went on to become an estate agent, at a Christmas prom in 11th grade in 1997. Meghan, now 38, is also seen in another picture posing one year earlier aged 15 in tenth grade with her friends Anise Hutchinson, Emanuella Jaskiewicz, Michelle Ramani and Lily Galli (left) at the dance in 1996. Donna Gilby (inset) left her flat just after 8am on Tuesday morning for a doctor's appointment when she slipped and fractured her foot. And now the family of the 47-year-old, want the world to see the photograph of her on the freezing pavement - face down and unable to move - as her friends and neighbours rallied round, covering her with blankets and duvets to keep her warm (pictured main). They also called 999 for the mother-of-one, from Cwmaman, who suffered from an irregular heart beat and had two mini-strokes, and alerted her family who live nearby. Her father Gareth Gilby, a 74-year-old, former factory worker said:  'We then called the ambulance service and told them Donna was slipping in and out of consciousness - that must have been somewhere between eight and 8.30am.' He added that the ambulance finally arrived shortly before two o'clock and rushed his daughter to Prince Charles hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.

The company issued a safety alert on Wednesday, claiming it only became aware of the issue in recent weeks. However there have been 79 fires and ten injuries dating as far back as November 2016. Tens of thousands of the machines may never be traced because of weaknesses in this country's product safety and recall system. Vicci Marshall from Doncaster (left) was horrified to see smoke coming out of her washing machine - despite it not being on the Whirlpool recall list. Pensioner John Batt, 77, (bottom right) was informed he had a faulty machine after it took 24 hours to get through to an employee on their hotline. And Becky Rooney from Warwick (top right) said she will 'never have a Hotpoint in the house again' after two of its washing machines had to be replaced for giving off smoke.

Golden Globe-winning actress Ruth Wilson allegedly refused to perform one scene where her character was involved in an aggressive sex scene and pushed up against a tree at a yoga retreat, causing a body-double to be called in. On set she would also ask why she had to be naked so often, over a perceived imbalance in nudity between genders, claims the Hollywood Reporter. The Affair's series showrunner Sarah Treem has also been accused of being 'tone deaf' to actors complaints. It has remained unclear why Wilson decided to quit the show.

Andrea Lacey, who lives in Aberdare, took a picture of the new-build, on the Golwg Y Mynydd development in Mountain Ash, and reported it to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council on December 16. The new houses are being built on the left bank of the River Cynon. The photograph, taken from the opposite side of the river, shows the houses precariously close to the bank which is seemingly eroding with cracks visible in the stone walls. A spokesman for Persimmon Homes East Wales said they had carried out an inspection at the site on Tuesday.

London café owner Carina Lepore (right) tonight triumphed over Scarlett Allen-Horton to be crowned the winner of this year's Apprentice - and Lord Sugar's next business partner. She has spent the last two years working tirelessly to salvage her father Carlos' dream of owning a bakery after his first venture - a modest but much-loved lunch spot in south London - burnt down in 2016. Shocking footage has revealed the moment a gang of youths encircled a terrified woman, 'churning up grass and skidding' as she walked six dogs (dogs pictured bottom right). The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at a playing fields in Grimsby, Lincolnshire while the dog walker was out with the six pooches. As she continued walking, the group started riding around her (left), skidding their bikes towards the small dogs who became very distressed. She said she shouted for help while this was taking place and filmed the youths on her phone (top right) but claimed in response, they just laughed and continued their actions.

A woman whose anorexia was so severe that it left her close to death has revealed that an emotional letter from her father saved her life. Marketer Becky Pates, now 21, from St Neots, Cambridgeshire, became consumed by her weight after a school weigh-in aged 11 left her so anxious that her mother Terry, now 53, wrote in to ask her to be excused. But it was too late, and  the worry led to Becky cutting down her food intake before she stopped eating altogether in her teens, her weight plumetting to 4 stone 7lbs aged 16 (seen inset) - leaving her perilously close to heart failure. But it was a letter from her builder dad Bruce, 59, that finally helped her see a life beyond the cruel disease, seen right, and she is now a healthy weight, seen left.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge 's 2019 Christmas card featuring their children Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis has been shared online (pictured). In the adorable snap, posted by Twitter account AComdtAC , Kate Middleton, 37, can be seen holding onto the handlebars of a vintage khaki-coloured motorbike, while husband Prince William , also 37, sits on the seat with a bemused Prince Louis , one, on his lap. Meanwhile, big sister Princess Charlotte, four, is photographed standing in the sidecar next to them, while Prince George, six, clad in a pair of red and blue checked shorts, appears to be rubbing his ear at the back of the shot. The social media post also shows the message inside the card, which reads: 'Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year' - and is signed in black pen by 'Catherine' (inset).

EXCLUSIVE: When a Yorkshire business owner heard crowds gathering outside her store in Leeds she was curious as to what all the fuss could be about. That fuss and commotion was caused by a large amount of people who had turned up to see Prime Minister Boris Johnson (right) who had been out on the campaign trail in the Morley area. When Claire Dexter (top centre speaking to Mr Johnson), who runs a health shop in the area realised it was him she decided to approach Mr Johnson, reciting a family joke that her son Zack (left) looked just like the 55-year-old Conservative leader. Speaking to MailOnline Claire, who is married with two sons (family pictured together bottom centre),  said she was 'embarrassed' after seeing a clip of herself telling Mr Johnson that her two-year-old 'could be his love child'.

A British man has gone viral after confessing that he is lonely due to his lack of friendships. Mark Gaisford, a CEO, from Kent, took to LinkedIn with a brave video confession which revealed how alone he really felt.  The clip, seen, resonated with users across the platform, and quickly racked up 15,000 views and hundreds of comments with followers confessing they felt the same way.  

Yevgeny Manyurov (inset), 39, a security guard from the Moscow suburb of Podolsk, fired shots outside the FSB headquarters in Lubyanka Square just before 6pm local time on Thursday. The dramatic shootout left three people dead, five injured and passers-by running through the streets in terror (top right). One of the casualties was an FSB officer, the agency confirmed late yesterday. The horror unfolded shortly after President Vladimir Putin delivered his annual news conference and while he was speaking at a Kremlin event designed to celebrate the work of the security services. The FSB, the main successor to the Soviet-era KGB, suspected the attack may have been planned to coincide with Putin's speech, a source close to the agency told Reuters. Manyurov was later shot dead by police (left and bottom right).

The flooding hit the town of Reinosa in Cantabria and has been described by residents as the worst in history, with reports saying water levels rose because of heavy winds. Residents have been evacuated with powerful waves flowing through doors and garages. The flooding comes after the Hijar river, which passes through Reinosa, and its tributary, the Izarilla, rose significantly. At least 20 people are thought to be trapped in their homes, with emergency services being inundated with hundreds of calls.
