Prince George mixes it with the Queen

The Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince George prepared Christmas puddings in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace last week in enchanting images released ahead of Christmas (left and bottom right). In the photographs, George gets stuck into the sticky fruit mix with his wooden spoon under the adoring gaze of his great-grandmother - and with a little help from his grandfather Charles and father William. Then, once the blend was perfect, each Royal placed commemorative sixpences into the mixture. The puddings will be handed out next year as part of a campaign by the British Royal Legion to tackle loneliness among armed forces veterans. Family of cystic fibrosis sufferer, 28, issue a desperate plea to the NHS and drug firms

Nicole Adams, 28, from Belfast, is in the end stages of the genetic disease that affects 10,000 Britons and kills half of sufferers before they reach the age of 40. Nicole's lung function hovers at just 13 per cent, leaving her struggling to breathe. Hospitalised a month ago with flu, in a video message to well-wishers she described the feeling as 'like being suffocated by my own body'. Her condition seemed stable until Wednesday, when she was suddenly rushed into intensive care. Doctors are now battling to clear her airways. Her only real hope lies in a new medicine that can dramatically improve lung function - but the pioneering pill is not yet licensed in Europe or approved for NHS patients. UK doctors may not be able to start prescribing it until 2021, as financial watchdogs who assess drugs are 'very busy' at the moment, according to sources. Unseen pictures and prison letters from Christine Keeler shed new light on the former

Looking into Christine Keeler's wide-eyed gaze at the age of just 15, right, it is impossible to imagine that only four years later she would become sexually involved with two powerful men, Secretary of War John Profumo and Soviet naval attaché Yevgeny Ivanov - so setting in motion one of the most dramatic political scandals of post-war Britain. The 1963 Profumo affair caused a security furore at the height of the Cold War and led to the downfall of everyone involved, including society osteopath Stephen Ward, who killed himself after being convicted of living off immoral earnings. Keeler herself was denounced as a 'tart' and moral deviant in a Britain yet to undergo the sexual revolution, and this reputation would haunt her for the rest of her life. Yet these pictures from her personal archive - published today for the first time - reveal a very different side to Christine Keeler. She is pictured left with family aged six, and on a fishing expedition inset top. A new BBC drama about her is pictured inset bottom. There is no sophistication, just a glossy-haired girl-next-door with a sullen, teenage gaze. The Mail on Sunday has also been given access to some of Keeler's letters which, written from jail, serve only to strengthen the sense that she was childish and naive. The case against her is admittedly strong. Working the Soho club scene by the age of 17, Keeler admitted to having 'sugar daddies' alongside her regular boyfriends, and took part in orgies with the wealthy and powerful. But a new six-part BBC drama, The Trial of Christine Keeler, advances the theory that she was herself a victim, a girl from a difficult background who had been brought up in a converted railway carriage - a young woman swept up in a world she didn't understand.

Martin Peters dead at 76: Gentleman celebrated winning World Cup by having a cuppa with

Despite the euphoria all around him that day at Wembley in July 1966, family and former teammates last night said it was entirely in character that Peters (let with his wife Kathleen and right with the World Cup winning team), who died yesterday, aged 76, should stop to think of others. Recently recalling her father's description of his moment in the Royal Box, Peters's daughter LeeAnn said: 'He told me that after the game he had to shake hands with the Queen, so he wiped them on his shorts. 'He'd just won the World Cup and he was worried about mud. That's my dad all over.'

Rowdy revellers throw punches and clash with police as festive party season gets underway

Christmas party season was well underway in Manchester last night as hundreds of partygoers took to the streets to celebrate the festive period. Many revellers donned glamorous attire (top right) as they flocked to pubs and bars across the city, while others wore very little as they braved chilly temperatures on the last Saturday before Christmas Day. As the alcohol flowed late into the night, some rowdy revellers clashed with police when they threw punches (left) and started fights in the city centre. One shirtless man was seen being detained in handcuffs against a black car by officers on the street (bottom right), before he was loaded into a van by three policemen.

ELIZABETH DAY says Dominic Cummings is her sartorial crush as he rides roughshod over

ELIZABETH DAY: I can't explain it. But somehow, without my realising it, Dominic Cummings (pictured), the Prime Minister's most senior advisor, has quietly become my unlikely fashion crush. In December, he was pictured in a green puffer jacket (far right) and grey jeans slouchily stuffed into a pair of piratical biker boots. He favours linen shirts (middle right), with the collar half-up, half-down, once again giving the impression that he cares just enough but not too much. Occasionally, he'll throw in an oversized branded hoodie (middle left), channelling the latest athleisure trends. Winter outfits are often topped off with bobble hats (left and right inset). Sometimes, he'll wear a padded gilet (far left), which is slightly too long to be reasonable. The whole thing is anarchic yet not impolite.

Rebecca Long Bailey hires man who wore a badge joking about Trotsky's assassination

Party moderates have warned that Labour will never again win power if Jeremy Corbyn's 'Stalinist-backed' favourite Rebecca Long-Bailey (left), 40, becomes the next leader. They said Labour would condemn itself to 'political oblivion' if members chose Ms Long Bailey to succeed Mr Corbyn. The dire predictions came after the Shadow Business Secretary appeared to confirm her status as the darling of hard-Left activists by picking 'self-proclaimed' Stalinist Alex Halligan (pictured right) to help run her campaign. How Prince Philip whiles away his days in a modest cottage on the edge of Sandringham

Wood Farm (right), an unassuming cottage on the edge of the Sandringham Estate close to the Norfolk coastline, is where the Duke has been spending his days since retiring from official public life in August 2017. The red-brick, five-bedroom property with its spartan furnishings and cosy open fires has for years been a bolthole from stuffy palace formality. While the Queen continues to carry out official duties around the country, Prince Philip (left) spends his days in Norfolk reading history books and biographies. His most recent visitors were Prince Charles, Prince Edward and Edward's son, 12-year-old James. The Queen stays occasionally, although they are said to speak on the phone every day.

Donald Trump tells Boris Johnson to celebrate Election win with a 'victory tour' of US

Donald Trump made the offer during his congratulatory call to Mr Johnson after the election. He said the PM and Carrie Symonds could 'go wherever they wanted' in the US. However, it is understood Mr Johnson is reluctant to visit while the President's impeachment drama is playing out and before he has delivered Brexit on January 31. Prince Philip in HELICOPTER hospital dash to hospital

The Duke of Edinburgh (left) was rushed to the King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone (inset) from Sandringham yesterday to be treated for a 'pre-existing condition'. It also emerged that the Duke had previously 'had a bad fall' which left him bed-bound, palace sources confirmed. The dash came as his wife left Buckingham Palace for Sandringham (right on a train at King's Cross station), where she hopes he can still join her for Christmas. Alongside the 'pre-exisiting condition' the Duke is currently being treated for, sources said he has not been in the best of health in recent weeks as he battles a flu-like condition.

William and Kate's annus MIRABILIS: Reinvention of the Cambridges

Compared with the rather showy, celebrity- obsessed lifestyles of some of their nearest and perhaps not so dearest, William and Kate's brand of unabashed 'middle classness' is being seen as a royal USP - unique selling point -not a label of derision. The Prince is pictured with the Duchess of Cambridge, Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte in a Christmas card, and again with Kate on a trip to Pakistan earlier this year. The Duchess of Cambridge is seen with Prince Louis, bottom right. It may be the Middletons to whom William still turns on issues of childcare and family life, but when it comes to matters of kingship, Charles is now gently guiding his son's hand.

Boris Johnson leaves Mayfair restaurant after thumping Brexit win

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was seen leaving a restaurant in Mayfair (left) where he celebrated his Brexit divorce deal victory in Parliament earlier today. After his proposal passed with a thumping 358 to 234 majority, Mr Johnson did not head back into the House of Commons to make a speech, as is usual custom, but rather headed straight to Scott's seafood restaurant to toast his overwhelming victory. Today's vote represents a massive victory for Mr Johnson (top right) and is the final proof that his general election gamble has paid off, with the passage of the WAB now a formality because of the Tories massive 80-seat majority. Jeremy Corbyn (bottom right) had whipped Labour to reject the WAB but six of his MPs rebelled to back Mr Johnson.

Yevgeny Manyurov (inset), 39, a security guard from the Moscow suburb of Podolsk, fired shots outside the FSB headquarters in Lubyanka Square just before 6pm local time on Thursday. The dramatic shootout left three people dead, five injured and passers-by running through the streets in terror (top right). One of the casualties was an FSB officer, the agency confirmed late yesterday. The horror unfolded shortly after President Vladimir Putin delivered his annual news conference and while he was speaking at a Kremlin event designed to celebrate the work of the security services. The FSB, the main successor to the Soviet-era KGB, suspected the attack may have been planned to coincide with Putin's speech, a source close to the agency told Reuters. Manyurov was later shot dead by police (left and bottom right).
