Bonafide Opticians is an eyewear store. They are also a place you can see an optician in Ridgewood. It has been under the family name since it was established in 1953. Bonafide has seen three generations work in their store.
The current owner is Charles. He has been a New York State licensed optician since 1979. He is also a fellow of the National Academy of Opticians and a member of the American Board of Opticians. Another cool detail about him is he is a former associate Optician to the NY Mets baseball team.
They sell fashionable glasses, non glare lenses, contact lenses, sport and safety glasses, non prescription sunglasses, contacts, and more. They sell designer frames like Ray-Bans, DKNY, Ralph Lauren, Vince Camuto, Prada, and more.
They also have a room for eye exams and are listed as a place to have the eye test to renew your drivers license. They also repair glasses and replace lenses right in the store.
My favorite part is their left over collection of vintage frames that they have kept in the store for years. They have vintage cat-eyes from the fifties as well as retro frames from the seventies like Diane Von Furstenberg . Since they repair so many glasses, they have a ton of strange glasses in their back rooms as well. Check out the photos below of some of the frames!
