7 Standout Google Glass Apps You Can Download Right Now

Google Glass is a whole new breed of tech hardware, and along with it is coming a whole new world of mobile apps.

Out of the box Glass comes loaded with Gmail, Path, the New York Times and Google Now. Along with the Glass hardware, early adopters are also given access to the Glass API to develop their own apps –- called ‘Glassware’ — for the platform. Even though the first developers only got access to Glass a few weeks ago, we’ve started to see quite a few apps pop up for the high-tech glasses

Since Glass is an entirely new app ecosystem, it’s been interesting to see what sorts of apps people make first.

A few of the early apps have just brought basic functionality to Glass, allowing you to do things like share a photo to Facebook or Twitter, or upload a video to YouTube. A few others have really capitalized on the platform, creating Glass-specific apps that take advantage of the uniqueness of Glass to create something new and different.

We’re definitely still in the early stages of development for Glass. I suspect we’ll start to see a lot more Glass apps show up after Google I/O this week, but for now, here’s a list of some of my favorites from the first batch of apps to show up for the platform.

Have you seen an awesome app for Google Glass not on the list? Tell us about it in the comments.
