   मुगदल   mugadala m Commonly मुदगल.
   मुगदळ   mugadaḷa f (मूग & दळहें) Ground bearing or fit for the cultivation of the pulse मूग.
   मुगदळ   mugadaḷa n (मूग & दळणें) Flour of Múg (Phaseolus Mungo). 2 The sweetmeat-ball made of this flour with ghee and raw sugar.
   मुगवण or न   mugavaṇa or na n (मूग) Stalks or chaff of मूग (Phaseolus Mungo).
   मुगवा   mugavā n (मूग. Because little squares of the length of a grain of मूग are formed on it.) A kind of silk cloth; used as an article of dress by females. 2 The white pompion otherwise called दुध्या.

   मुं0 लागणें   mu0 ṃlāgaṇēṃ in. con. (To have ants running over one.) To be in a violent hurry; to be excited into extravagant impatience and fidgetiness.

   मुंगा   muṅgā m (मुंगी) A disease of horses,--lampas. 2 Seizing and twisting round of the upper lip (of a horse &c.;) in order to hold him in restraint. v घाल, दाब, धर. 3 The cord or implement for this purpose. 4 Proud pranks; haughty airs or bearing. v कर, लाव, चालव, जिरव, मोड. 5 An emulative or a sudden impulse or itching; fondness, or liking, or desire after, suddenly contracted. v ये, आण. 6 A large (black or red) ant. 7 A female sport. Esp. about Náshik. Women assemble on नागपंचमी and run round in a ring vociferously singing. v घाल.

   मुगाघेवडा   mugāghēvaḍā m A variety of the vegetable called घेवडा (Dolichos lablab).
   मुगाण   mugāṇa n (मूग & दाणा) The grain Múg and another, or, generally, any mixed secondary grains, sown amidst जोंधळा or बाजरी. They grow on and ripen after the Holcus (as principal) has been cut and removed.
   मुगाणा   mugāṇā m (Commonly मुकाणा) A grain which resists steeping and will not swell or puff. 2 (About Ratnagiri &c.;) The grain múg coarsely ground and uncleaned; ground múg with its husks.
   मुगाभोंपळा   mugābhōmpaḷā m (मूग & भोंपळा) The white pompion, Cucurbita lagenaria.
   मुगारा   mugārā m Very early and tender germination or sprouting. v ये, फुट, निघ.
   मुगारी or मुंगारी   mugārī or muṅgārī f (मूग) The खरीप or autumnal harvest. Opp. to हिंगारी. Both the words are Canarese, but current about Solápúr.
   मुगाळ   mugāḷa f Early and tender sprouting (of grass, trees, plants). v ये, निघ, फुट, हो. 2 Down (on the face of adolescence).
   मुगी   mugī f (मूग) A diminutive variety of मूग (Phaseolus Mungo). 2 A common term for the squares of the length of a grain of मुग formed on particular cloths: also a लुगडें so figured.
   मुंगी   muṅgī f An ant. Pr. मुंगीस भताचा पूर or प्रलय A poor man or a feeble man is readily overwhelmed. 2 fig. The tingling of a limb asleep. v ये, चढ. Used pl. 3 The stinging or biting experienced in the tongue from eating certain substances. 4 A sudden itching (for, after, or to do). v ये, आण. 5 Excitement, in the male, of the sexual passion. v ये. Pr. मुंगी होऊन साखर खावी पण हत्ती होऊन लाकडें खाऊं नयेत Better be little and lowly with some comforts or pleasures than be great with all the hardships of greatness.

   मुंगूस   muṅgūsa m Bengal Mungoose, Viverra Ichneumon, or Herpesteus Griseus.
   मुंगूसकांदा   muṅgūsakāndā m A plant, Serpent's skeleton. Distinguished into मोठा & लहान.
   मुंगूसतोंडा or ड्या   muṅgūsatōṇḍā or ḍyā a Mungoose-mouthed. Used of one whose mouth is distorted by furious anger; also of one whose chin is thin and lips are prominent; also of a person bashful and sheepish.
   मुंगूसवेल   muṅgūsavēla f A plant, Artemisia vulgaris.
   मुग्ध   mugdha a (S) Stupid, dull, doltish. 2 also मुग्धा a ind Vague, ambiguous, indefinite: also undetermined or undecided--speech, an affair, a business.
   मुग्धमा or म्मा   mugdhamā or mmā f (मुग्ध & अम्मा Mute mother.) A term of abuse for a gross and heavy-witted person, esp. a female.
   मुग्धा   mugdhā f S A female not arrived at puberty, a girl under sixteen years of age, a maid. See बाला & प्रौढा.
   मुग्याण   mugyāṇa n (मूग & दाणा) Plants (ear and stalk) of मूग as lying to be trodden out. 2 Stalks of मूग after the ear has been trodden out, múg-chaff.
   मुचलका   mucalakā m ( H) A written engagement under a penalty. Generally applied to that exacted by a government from culprits and from witnesses. 2 A bond of record, a recognisance. 3 The bond or agreement furnished by the parties to a पंचायत.
   मुचुकुंद   mucukunda m (S The name of an ancient king.) An appellative for a sleepyheaded fellow. 2 pop. मुच- कुंद m A tree, Pterospermum suberifolium. Grah.
   मुंज   muñja f (S) The ceremony of investing a young Bráhman with the sacrificial thread. 2 m A grass (Saccharum munja) from the fibres of which is prepared the string which is worn around the loins during the ceremony of मुंज by the Bráhman the subject of it, and until the ceremony of सोडमुंज (loosening of the मुंज) which is performed about sixteen years afterwards. 3 The string so prepared and worn.
   मुजमू, मुजमूदार, मुजमूदारी   mujamū, mujamūdāra, mujamūdārī See मजमू, मजमूदार, मजमूदारी.
   मुजरत or द   mujarata or da ad ( P Quickly, instantly.) Expressly, directly, positively; with determinedness of will or mind; with fullness of design and bent of purpose; opp. to casually, accidentally, indirectly.
   मुजरा   mujarā m ( A) Respects, salutation, obeisance. 2 The song sung by a band of singers on their introduction to their employer or on taking leave of him. 3 R Aiming or an aim. v धर. 4 Used as ad with करणें or देणें. To allow for; to make deduction or abatement (from a sum or an amount) in consideration of.

   मुजाईम or मुजाहीम   mujāīma or mujāhīma a ( A) That opposes, obstructs, hinders, stops. Used mostly in notes and passports.
   मुजाख or खा   mujākha or khā m f ( A) Moment, matter, consequence, importance, significance. Generally neg. con. See under किमत.
   मुजाफतखर्च   mujāphatakharca m ( P) Expenditure on account of presents or rewards made by Government. 2 Expenditure made by one Subhá or Mahál on account of or at the debit of some other Subhá, Mahál &c.; See इजाफतजमा. 3 Additional or extraordinary expenditure in general.
   मुजाफती   mujāphatī a Relating to मुजाफतखर्च.
   मुजामा   mujāmā m ( P) A heel-leather of a horse.
   मुजारत   mujārata f ( A) Courtesies, civilities, polite-
   मुजावर   mujāvara m ( A) A sweeper of a mosque devoutly or piously fixed to it.
   मुजावरी   mujāvarī f The office, business, or estate &c.; of मुजावर.
   मुजाहीम   mujāhīma a See under मुजाईम.
   मुंजी   muñjī f (मुंज S) मुंजीबंधन n (Properly मौंजीबंधन) Investiture of a young Bráhman with the sacrificial thread.
   मुजुमदार   mujumadāra & मुजुमदारी See मजमूदार & मजमूदारी.
   मुंज्या   muñjyā m (मुंज) A young Bráhman arrived at the fit age to be invested with the sacred thread: also one still wearing around his loins the मुंज (girding thread assumed during the ceremony of investiture). 2 The disembodied spirit of a young Bráhman dying before the ungirding of the मुंज; viewed as a fiend or goblin. 3 (Because they make the string called मुंज from the fibres of this tree.) A name for the पिंपळ Ficus religiosa.
   मुट-कण-कन-कर   muṭa-kaṇa-kana-kara &c.; (Imit.) In a trice or shake;--used with धरणें-पकडणें-पडणें-शिरणें-घुसणें -झोप लागणें &c.; It agrees well with पट-कन q. v. 2 with निजणें or पडणें To lie drawn up.
   मुटकणें   muṭakaṇēṃ v c (मूठ Fist.) To beat with gentle and reiterated blows (a languid limb &c.; to promote the circulation).
   मुटकळणें   muṭakaḷaṇēṃ v c (मूठ & आकलन) In measuring cloth &c.; by the arm. To grasp the cloth after each measurement of a cubit, and, by doubling the fingers inwards, obtain an increase of a hand's length. 2 To play with one's food (boiled rice &c.;) by grasping and squeezing portions of it. 3 To beat with gentle and reiterated blows (a lump of dough in kneading it, a weary limb in shampooing it).
   मुटकळा   muṭakaḷā m मुटकळें n (मुटकळणें) A lump of dough as grasped by the hand and detached from the kneaded mass; a mass in general grasped and squeezed by the hand. v घे.
   मुटका   muṭakā m (मूठ) Beating with gentle and reiterated blows (of a limb &c.; in shampooing it). 2 A blow with the fist. v मार, दे. 3 The fist as clenched to strike. v उगार 4 or मुटकें n See the preceding word. 5 Spasm or cramp.v वळ. 6 The cross-piece forming the handle of a plough, drill, hoe &c.; See पुठ्या Sig. II.
   मुटकाविणें   muṭakāviṇēṃ v c (मूठ) To knead (the limbs) with the hand, to shampoo.
   मुटमुट or टु   muṭamuṭa or ṭu ad Imit. of the sound of the jaw in eager eating.v खा, जेव. 2 (Or माटमुट) Pit a pat. मु0 पाहणें To gaze at in stillness and silence.
   मुट्ट   muṭṭa ad Silently, mutely, still. v हो, बस, अस, राह.
   मुठा   muṭhā m The head or receiving aperture of a पखाल. 2 R W (मूठ) A lump of moist cowdung placed at the bottom of a fire-place to support and preserve alive some embers. v पुर, घाल. 3 Air as felt rising in and distending the bowels, flatus. 4 A skein (of silk or thread).
   मुठाण   muṭhāṇa n (मूठ) A confederate body (esp. of disorderly persons); a band, gang, knot, pack, crew, coterie.
   मुठाळा or ळी   muṭhāḷā or ḷī or मुठेळी a (मूठ Fist.) Roundended, not pointed or tapering;--used of a kind of plantain. Hence मुठाळी केळ or मुठेळी केळ f The tree bearing it.
   मुठाळें or मुठेळें   muṭhāḷē or mmuṭhēḷēṃ n (मूठ Fist.) A round-ended plantain. 2 Rubbing upon the glans penis to allay sexual excitement. v मार, कर.
   मुठीचा खेळ   muṭhīcā khēḷa m Casting of the मूठ or charmed grains held in the hand. The same with मांगगारूड.
