Sarah Palin, who ran on the Republican ticket against the Obama-Biden team in 2008, raised the pitch of her unofficial campaign for the White House in 2012 on Sunday and tore into the president for “selling out” American allies, especially Israel.
“So while President Obama is getting pushed around by the likes of Russia and China, our allies are left to wonder about the value of an alliance with our country any more. They're asking what is it worth," she said in a fiery speech in Virginia.
"Do they think, really, that we're getting anything in return for all this bowing and kowtowing and apologizing? No, we don't get anything positive in return for this," the former governor of Alaska added.
She castigated the president’s lack of outright support for Israel’s interception of the Turkish-led flotilla, which ended in bloodshed May 31 when terror activists attacked Israeli Navy commandos who prevented the ships from reaching Hamas-controlled Gaza.
President Obama’s popularity has dropped sharply the past several months following lingering economic uncertainty, lack of dramatic progress in the war against terror in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan, and most lately the failure to put a quick end to the colossal oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Palin has stormed the country, and her appearance in Virginia followed speeches in Texas and Georgia the previous two days. Exploiting resentment among Democrat voters as well as Republicans, she charged President Obama with viewing the United States as “a country that has to be apologized for around the world, especially to dictators.”
Mimicking the Obama campaign slogan in 2008 that American needs a “change,” she told jubilant supporters that the United States needs a "change in administration."
