Fox Kills Queen’s Pet Flamingos

A fox outfoxed tight security at Buckingham Palace and killed Queen Elizabeth II’s pink flamingos.
Police found the mutilated bodies of six birds near the ornamental pond in a palace garden.
The attack occurred after a cold snap had frozen the lake, denying the birds the natural protection of water.
Simon Tonge, senior curator of London Zoo, said the many foxes that live in central London normally survive by eating garbage.
“But when the weather gets really cold they become desperate, daring and no respecters of royalty,” he said.
Buckingham Palace said no decision would be made on whether to replace the birds “until we’ve caught the fox.”
