Interesting people talking about boring things, both on the internet and in real life.

Panel 1

ABOUT

The Boring Conference is a one-day celebration of the mundane, the ordinary, the obvious and the overlooked; subjects often considered trivial and pointless, but when examined more closely reveal themselves to be deeply fascinating.

It was created in response to the cancellation of the 2010 Interesting Conference. It seemed like the obvious thing to do.

Previous speakers have included Jon Ronson, Robin Ince, Josie Long, Adam Curtis and Peter York.

People have talked about sneezing, toast, IBM tills, the sounds made by vending machines, the Shipping Forecast, barcodes, yellow lines, London shop fronts, the television programme Antiques Road Trip and the features of the Yamaha PSR-175 Portatune keyboard.

2020 BORING CONFERENCE

This year’s Boring Conference was due to take place on Saturday 30th May at Conway Hall in Holborn.

Doors would have opened around 10.30am, and things were supposed to start to get boring at about 11am. The event was meant to finish around 4.30pm, at which point you would have been free to get on with your lives.

However, as it is currently illegal for the Boring Conference to take place, the event has been postponed. A new date will be announced once it is possible to do so.

CONTACT

The Boring Conference is organised by James Ward. You can email him here. You can also follow him on Twitter @iamjamesward.

You can also follow us on Twitter @boringconferenc. We had to go for “@boringconferenc” instead of “@boringconference” because “@boringconference” is one letter too long to use as a name on Twitter.

We also have a Facebook page, which you can look at blankly.
