About
The museum tells incredible stories of Cromer people putting their lives in danger to rescue strangers from the sea. At the heart of the museum is the lifeboat stationed at Cromer during WWII. There are puzzles, model boats, Morse code practice and more in this super, family-friendly museum.

- CathHChesterfield, United Kingdom13 contributionsReally interesting place to visitSurprisingly really interesting place to visit. It’s free to enter. There’s interactive stuff for kids, and information to read for both adults and children. Staff very helpful and friendly. Whether you’re interested or not in the RNLI and lifeboats, it’s a fascinating story and a great place to visit. You can also visit the current RNLI lifeboat at the end of Cromer pier just a 5 min walk away.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 26 August 2023
- chairmanglasgowGlasgow, United Kingdom111 contributionsNotable museumVisited this museum on recommendation of owner of our holiday let. Went here after seeing lifeboat launch on Sunday morning training run(worth seeing itself). Excellent and interesting museum. Not just about a brave man but information about RNLI and Cromer. Well worth a visit especially as it is free. While did not have any small children with me they were catered for with opportunities to dress up(my two always relished the chance to do that).Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 September 2023

- Claire P133 contributionsMost informative - what a man Henry Blogg was!First time visiting. So glad we did. What an amazing man Henry Blogg was rescuing all those people under difficult circumstances. Monty was a huge pooch - enjoyed learning about his story too. Volunteers were lovely. Couldn't imagine going out into a Force 12 gale in that boat.... or crashing it over the deck of a floundering ship. Testimony to all the brave men and women who brave their lives to save others.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 November 2023
- John ELowestoft, United Kingdom10 contributionsExcellent ... wheelchair lift down to the seafront.Having a public lift is brilliant – it takes wheelchairs (and able bodied folks) down from ‘The Gangway’ at the top to the RNLI museum at the bottom of the cliff. This building also has very good and accessible public toilets. Then we went along to the End of the Pier Show. Brilliant show and accessible. Great photo! I think you may have posted this in the wrong site. It looks as though you visited the operational lifeboat station at the end of Cromer Pier. Next time come and have a look round the museum too. It's great to compare the 1930s lifeboat to the up to date one on station!

When we visited Cromer in September 2022 the museum was sadly closed due to the very recent death of Queen Elizabeth II. However, this year we made it through the doors & loved every minute! The place is packed with lots of fascinating memorabilia & information relating to Henry Blogg, his outstanding service to the RNLI & other non specific RNLI information. We were so, so lucky to be able to talk, at length, to one of the male volunteers that was present during our visit. This gentleman was absolutely fascinating, a wealth of knowledge relating to both Henry Blogg himself & all things relating to the RNLI both past & present. So sorry we didn’t have this gentleman’s name to personally thank him on here but maybe staff will be made aware of this post & can identify the gentleman we talked at length to. This gentleman nearly missed his tea break because he was so deep in conversation with us!!
This museum is free to enter but please, please everyone try & leave a donation to the RNLI as you leave!
The gentleman told us where we could find the old cottage where Henry Blogg had lived. It’s just a stones throw from the museum, close to the Mary Jane’s Fish Bar….look for the blue plaque on the wall.

Been many times. The story of a very humble true British hero. Don’t miss it when you visit Cromer. Great as you can inspect the life boat from underneath and on top.

Came to look around your museum so informative. Recommend to anyone visiting cromer to come to your museum and then go to the pier to see the how lifeboats have changed from Henry bloggs time to modern times.

Hi. We are visiting cromer again next week. Im sure we will be coming down to the RNLI to see the boat. Can you tell me what night is practise night and what time they launch/return? Only managed to see it once before and it was breath taking. Thank you

Hello Mrs Williamson.
You are in luck. Tomorrow is the station open day which means full demonstrations by both lifeboat and lifeguards too. There will also be lots of stalls with home made cakes etc, a falconry display, children's activities and music, all to raise funds to keep the boats and crew saving lives at sea. It all starts at 10am with the lifeboats due to launch at around 3.15pm. Hopefully see you tomorrow.
Best Regards

Would youngsters, 3&5 find it worth a visit?
Henry Blogg M
Cromer, UK
Hi Andy,
We get lots of younger visitors and it's lovely to see them coming back time after time. There is quite a lot for them to do from dressing up in crew kit, measuring crabs and trying out the speaking tube.
If you decide to bring your children for a visit then please let us know what they thought.
Best Regards
Jacqui
