Emmerdale's Amy Walsh and EastEnders and Toby-Alexander Smith reveal they have called their daughter Bonnie Mae

They welcomed their baby girl on December 27th.  

And soap stars Amy Walsh, 34, and Toby-Alexander Smith, 30, have revealed the adorable name of their newborn daughter, on Monday. 

Toby, who plays Gray Atkins on EastEnders, confessed that the couple are 'totally smitten' as Amy added that she gets emotional every time she looks at their baby.

In an interview with OK! the couple announced that they had chosen the adorable name, Bonnie Mae for their daughter and detailed how they came up with it. 

Toby explained: 'We'd go on walks around the lake where Amy used to live in Leeds during lockdown and talk about names. Bonnie was one that came up really early, even before Amy was pregnant.' 

Amy and Toby have been together since 2019 after meeting by chance in the Strictly Come Dancing audience and moved in together in 2020.

He added that they would always 'hypothetically' use the name when discussing their future and hopes of becoming parents. 

The actress, who plays Tracy Metcalfe in the soap, added: 'When she came, she couldn't have been more of a Bonnie.'

Amy continued as she detailed her painful birth experience after she needed to have two epidurals to control the pain of her 20 hour labour.

Her waters broke on Boxing Day but the star needed to be induced due to testing positive for a Group B strep infection.  

The new mother said: 'She arrived on 27 December. Her due date was Christmas Eve. A few weeks prior to that, we had some drama as we got Covid. We had two weeks of worrying that I would go into labour while we had Covid, which would mean Toby wouldn’t have been able to be there.'

Amy explained that whilst it wasn't the birth that she would have liked, they did managed to play a song that they 'love' as Bonnie was born, an 'old classic' that they hope to have as their future wedding song.
