How to Update The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo Switch)

In this article, you'll learn how to install the update for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch.

Note

On January 31, 2018, a new software update for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch console is connected to the Internet.

Complete these steps

  1. Connect the Nintendo Switch console to the Internet.
  2. Return to the HOME Menu and launch the game.
  3. The update will be downloaded and installed automatically.
  4. Once the update is installed, the newest version number will be displayed on the title screen.

Update history

Ver. 1.6.0 (Released April 25, 2019)

  • We have made the game compatible with the VR Goggles from Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit.
    • You can set whether you’d like to use the VR Goggles from VR Goggles in Options under System in the in-game menu.
    • This feature is also introduced on the Nintendo Labo website. (labo.nintendo.com/kits/vr-kit/)
  • We fixed some other issues so the player can enjoy the game.

Ver. 1.5.0 (Released January 31, 2018)

  • You can now select Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), or Korean in the language settings menu on the Switch console to display text in the selected language.
    • Voice Language selection is not supported for the above languages. If you choose Match System Settings in Options, voice data will be set to Japanese.
  • Various fixes to improve gameplay.

Ver. 1.4.0 (Released December 7, 2017)

  • Added support for DLC Pack 2, The Champions’ Ballad. Players who have pre-purchased this content can play it by updating the DLC and software.

  • The amiibo of the four Champions (Revali, Daruk, Urbosa, and Mipha) are now supported.

  • An issue preventing the × mark for Game Overs from being recorded in Hero’s Path mode from Ver.1.3.0 onward has been fixed.
  • Various fixes to improve gameplay.
