I have never read a book this fast
I inhaled Takes on life in a single day, it was that amazing! Reading the book felt like hearing someone telling you their life stories in person to make you laugh and comfort you. I enjoy reading the blog every Sunday and this just felt like a special extra long version. I will definitely recommend it to others…

Well worth my wife’s money!
I have just finished this book and wanted to say how much I enjoyed reading it, especially as it was a Christmas present, and as we all know…. anything that is free is always better!
My only disappointment is that Volume 2 has been lost and is not forthcoming….have you tried looking for it down the sofa crack??
Anyway, this is a great book. Very entertaining and easy to read, on or off the toilet!

Excellent book!
Having devoured the brilliant ‘Fruit Bowl’ in a day, I was introduced to Dominic’s blog (very good) which inevitably led me to ‘Eclipsed’…and I wasn’t disappointed. An excellent read that makes you realise that the movie industry is a cut throat world and being in the right place at the right time is sometimes all it takes. I loved the footnotes and the updates. Very enjoyable.

Perfect little bits with lots of laughing out loud!
Just finished Takes and loved it! So often these days I find myself tied up in reading lists that are far to dramatic, this was charming and funny and as a parent of boys had me laughing out loud. I have read some of Mr. Holland’s work in the past and I highly recommend it. This makes for a perfect gift especially while it’s still hard to get out for live comedy.

A “can’t put it down” read….
Another good read from Dominic Holland! Gabriel is not the nicest of people at the start of the book. You know you’ve met people like him and instantly found them distasteful – but how he transforms! By the end, he is the type of person you would happily talk to. My favourite line in the whole book and epitomises his complete change of character is the last thing he says. – perfect.
I was set a challenge to guess the ending and I was 75% correct…so close but no cigar!

A story of hardwork and laughter
Truly hilarious novel which turned out to be impossible to set down with it’s frustrating twists and turns
Milly is a character one falls in love with right from the first chapter and that can be easily related to
I particularly loved the descriptions as they were so visual and as couldn’t fail to make me smile
All in all, a great read that I recommend 100% :))

Various Sides of a Lifetime
Sometimes, people tend to think that famous people’s lives are incredible all the time or that success comes out of nothing. And then here comes Eclipsed for a shock of reality.
The way Dom explains his eldest son’s trajectory emphasizes Tom’s endeavour to reach such an extraordinary career. As he mentions the places where he’d been before his son went there and made huge success just makes us think that it’s all about energy, effort and the way we behave in life. As Dom once said to me: “Never underestimate the power of endeavour, Fernanda”.
It’s also a book that makes me laugh a lot and feel that famous people are just people like us…
Besides that, I’m pretty sure that his boys are much proud of his “superhero scooter abilities” (lol).
Bestest book ever. There’s no way I can deny that Dom is such an excellent writer.
Best wishes!

“A unique kind of escape”
I took my time when reading Takes on Life because it offered a unique kind of escape for me that no other book had before. It felt just as if I was hearing all these stories from Dom in person or over the phone as anecdotes. I’ll come back to it when I miss that feeling. Which I think won’t take long…

“Wow… I haven’t laughed that hard at a book in a long time!”
Takes on Life Vol.1 is designed to be read here and there when you get 5 minutes but I couldn’t put the book down and finished it within a couple hours. I highly recommend this book full of relatable and hilarious stories and scenarios. I look forward to reading the next!

Humour, energy and charisma
Dom hosted our charity ball this year with humour, energy and charisma. He easily captured the attention of our guests with his down-to-earth comedic timing that had our guests laughing and at ease throughout. Aside from creating a fun-filled atmosphere, Dom was a fantastic support on the night – when things weren’t quite going to plan, Dom quickly adapted to the changing situation and was happy to help as much as he could to get the programme back on track. As organiser of the event this was invaluable to me, and I cannot thank him enough.
Booking Dominic was brilliant
Booking Dominic was brilliant, he was really funny...I was really impressed with how quickly Dominic Holland picked up on the peculiarity that is QA and its caring ethos, and how he adjusted his act subtly in response. Dominic Holland was a great choice. Loved Dominic Holland just wish he could have been on for longer.
Interact Derby
Dom came highly recommended from the several agencies that we approached for our after lunch speaker at the annual Derby Interact Xmas luncheon. He exceeded our expectations in every respect, holding the room of 450 ‘professionals’ with consummate ease – which is no mean feat. Following the event we have received rave reviews including comments such as ‘refreshingly different’ and ‘the best yet’. One the many qualities that sets Dom apart is his unfaltering originality – and he most definitely is going to be a very hard act to follow.
Brakes
Dominic hosted the awards dinner at our annual supplier conference, which was a very special occasion this year with it being our 60th anniversary. He was absolutely superb, extremely polished and very professional, entertaining the 350 strong audience throughout the evening. A great link with our lady magician provided some especially funny moments and the comedy was really clever, witty and insightful, ensuring the whole room couldn’t stop laughing! The supplier awards were presented with a perfect blend of sincerity and fun which was appreciated by all”. Highly recommended!
Suzanne Howe Communications
Dominic is a joy to work with. He’s a seasoned professional and by booking him as your host you know your event is in safe hands. His down to earth approach with the event team and our client put everyone at ease. On top of that, his work ethic is brilliant, he’s clearly dedicated to his craft and he read the audience perfectly. Last but not least – the guy is hilarious!
