Jeremy Hunt is making final preparations for his crucial pre-election Budget today as hopes mount that he could push through big tax cuts. The Chancellor had an audience with the King at Buckingham Palace this morning after finalising the package after months of wrangling. There are signs that Mr Hunt will be able to unveil a move on personal taxes, regarded by many as essential for the Tories to have a chance of clawing back Labour 's massive poll advantage. Although most speculation has focused on a possible further 2p cut to national insurance, some Conservatives remain optimistic that Mr Hunt will go further and target income tax. While significantly more expensive, that is regarded as more likely to cut through with voters - and a counter to the burden reaching a new post-war high.

The attack on Fernanda, 28, who was on a motorbike trip with her husband Vincente, 63, took place last week in Dumka district in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand where the couple was camping for the night on their way to Nepal. Police have arrested another five men in connection with the attack and paraded them, handcuffed and tied to each other in a line by a rope, in front of seated police officers on national television. Three other men - also with sacks on their heads - already appeared in court over the incident on Monday and were later remanded in custody. Fernanda posted a statement online after the latest arrests, thanking the 'efficient' police as she wrote: 'They have caught all the criminals, and there were eight in total. I ask for justice... (for) all of the women who also have to go through this.' The authorities today handed a cheque of £9,500 to Vincente as compensation under a 'victim compensation scheme', broadcaster NDTV reported.

One male protester wearing a black cap and Brooklyn jacket can be heard repeating 'Tesco is supporting genocide' before shouting 'stop killing children' and 'enough is enough'. He can then be heard shouting 'Tesco has blood on their hands' while surrounding protesters chant and hand out flyers to customers. A British toddler is one of only 100 people in the world with 'uncombable hair syndrome'. Layla Davis, three, has been nicknamed 'Fluffy' for her frizzy blonde mop, which cannot be combed flat. She was diagnosed with uncombable hair syndrome (UHS) - a condition characterised by dry, frizzy hair which defies attempts to tame it. UHS develops in childhood, often between infancy and age three but can appear as late as twelve. Children who develop it tend to have light-coloured hair - and there are only around 100 cases in the world.

At Holborn Crown Court today, the teary model said she was punched 30 times and feared Lawrence was going to murder her after he invited her over in the early hours of the morning by text.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) had banned a poster showing FKA Twigs with the side of her buttocks and part of a breast exposed, ruling that it depicted her as a 'stereotypical sexual object'. However, the watchdog took the rare decision to reverse the ruling after FKA Twigs took to Instagram to mount a challenge. The singer complained that the original verdict was evidence of 'double standards' in the advertising industry. Singer and activist Samantha Hudson, 24, appeared in a new partnership with Doritos Spain through a 50-second video called 'Crunch Talks that has now been deleted from the brand's Instagram. Doritos told Rolling Stone on Tuesday it would no longer work with Hudson, saying they were unaware of her previous inappropriate posts. The decision follows massive backlash on social media, as users posted grabs of Hudson's old writings. A grandmother who was dragged into the air by a store's electric shutters just as it had opened for the day has joked 'it could only happen to me' after the moment went viral. This is the heart-stopping moment a Florida sheriff's deputy brought a baby back to life on the side of the road after a devastating car crash.  Deputy Sgt. Dave Musgrove came across the catastrophic crash along a main roadway in Englewood, about 50 miles north of Fort Myers, around 7:37 pm on February 8.  Bodycam and dashcam footage shows the hero deputy running to the scene, rescuing one child from the mangled car, flagging down a member of the public for help before returning to the wreckage.

He booked a cruise via the Texas-based travel company Bare Necessities, which has been operating clothing-optional ship charters since 1990. Thomas Geatal Scancarelli, 61, of Big Pine Key, Florida was arrested Monday just before 5 pm on two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Scancarelli, who was already on probation for convictions of cocaine trafficking, was previously arrested by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) last Tuesday for feeding an endangered species of Key deer by hand. Becky Herrin, a spokesperson from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, told local ABC affiliate WPLG that FWC officers noticed 'two rifles and an AR-15-style weapon mounted on the wall,' and alerted deputies immediately.
