Scary moment Nationals top prospect Daylen Lile is stretchered off the field in a neck brace after flipping over the outfield wall as he tried to rob a homerun

Washington Nationals outfielder Daylen Lile left the team's spring training game on a stretcher after taking a scary fall over the outfield wall while attempting to rob a homerun.

The Nationals were left holding their breath as one of their top prospects was stretchered away at JetBlue Park Saturday.  

Lile was attempting to catch a ball that was smashed by Boston Red Sox's first baseman Tyler Miller a ball to deep right field when he tried to leap up and collided with the hip-high wall.

The 21-year-old toppled headfirst as he landed in the Red Sox bullpen, leading to the pitchers and coaches nearby immediately signaling for medical assistance in scary scenes.

He was eventually taken off the field on a stretcher with a brace around his neck.

Lile was attempting to rob a homerun in right field when his hip collided with the wall

He flipped over the wall headfirst before landing on his back and needing medical attention

Nationals manager Davey Martinez said that Lile landed on his back and was transported to a local hospital to receive a CAT scan and that the team would know the extent of his injuries on Sunday.

Martinez also added that Lile had mobility in both his arms and legs following his fall. 

'Hit pretty hard, hit the ground,' Martinez said afterward, per The Athletic. 'He's going to get checked out. When we left, he was moving his feet and his legs. Hopefully, everything comes back negative. We'll pray for him.' 

Lile is ranked as Washington's No. 6 prospect by MLB Pipeline and finished the season with a .807 OPS between Low and High-A baseball last season.

A member of Nationals training staff is expected to remain with him until he is ready to go back to the team's facility.

Boston went on to win the game 4-2.
