Former WWE superstar Matt Riddle has admitted to failing multiple drug tests for cocaine before his departure from the company.

Riddle was released from the company back in September around a week after he had claimed an officer at JFK airport sexually assaulted him.

He recently returned to the ring making appearances in Major League Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling where he was recently crowned the NJPW World TV Champion.

During an appearance on The MMA Hour, the 38-year-old went into detail about his WWE exit, revealing that he failed several drug tests after using cocaine in a strip club.

'No, they didn't make any of the offences public. They wanted to keep it on the hush hush and they punished me by fining me,' said Riddle.

'I went to the strip club and did some cocaine a couple of times, and I failed the drug test. Well, that was for all of them, it was cocaine each time.'

Riddle went on to add that he failed two drug tests in a row after being tested on consecutive weeks, but after staying clean for a long period of time he thought he was in the clear before failing another random test after a night out partying, which led to the company asking him to rehab.

'I feel like getting fired by WWE happened at the right time,' Riddle said.

'Not saying I won't go back, or saying I will go back, there's no discussion there but at the same time, I just had another kid, little Matthew, and with the WWE schedule, it's a lot.'

Before being released from WWE along with several other high-profile superstars, Riddle had been placed in a tag team with Drew McIntyre that the company had 'significant' plans for.

Since being released he also shed light on the fact that he was almost placed in a team with wrestling legend Jeff Hardy, but the latter was not comfortable being placed in a team that would have been known as the 'Hardy Bros' due to his well-known fame as a member of the Hardy Boyz.

Riddle had also won the WWE Tag Team Championships while he paired with legendary superstar Randy Orton, and he also held the United States title during his time in the company.

He previously revealed that he was originally supposed to win the 2022 Royal Rumble before Brock Lesnar overruled the decision.
