Princess Bride star Cary Elwes claims $100K worth of valuables have VANISHED from his house as authorities suspect an 'inside job'

The Princess Bride star Cary Elwes has called the authorities after discovering that about $100,000 of his valuables had vanished from his Malibu house.

A considerable amount of art, jewelry and cash is unaccounted for, and Elwes, 61, has notified the police, suspecting he was burgled.

Law enforcement have been looking into the matter and reportedly believe the culprit was not a home invader but a member of Elwes' staff.

Insiders told TMZ that the authorities are considering the possibility the missing valuables were stolen gradually in a time period spanning multiple years.

At present, they are not sure how Elwes ultimately realized that a sizeable chunk of his personal belongings had disappeared.

The investigation into the missing valuables is currently in the hands of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Elwes' latest personal crisis comes less than two years after he was bitten by a rattlesnake in his Malibu backyard and had to be airlifted to the hospital.

He was doing yardwork at home when he was struck by the snake, causing what the people who were with him regarded as a potentially fatal injury.

Elwes needed treatment urgently enough that a helicopter arrived at his house to whisk him off to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

After the hair-raising incident, Elwes posted to what was then Twitter to assure his fanbase that he was on the road to recovery.

'Bit not by a ROUS but a rattlesnake,' he wrote, jokingly referring to an acronym from The Princess Bride that means 'Rodents Of Unusual Size.'

'Grateful to the staff of Malibu Urgent Care, LA County Fire Dept. and the staff and medical professionals at @UCLAHealth for their great care,' he added.

The Robin Hood: Men In Tights star informed his followers that he was by that point 'recovering well thanks to all these wonderful folks.'
