Those unfortunate enough to live near the location have described it as a 'huge trash pile' and 'not a landfill but a landhill'. Other residents told Mail Online the stink left them 'gagging' and too embarrassed to invite friends and family to their homes, while others were left fearing for their health or possible pollution of local watercourses. More than 3,600 people have now signed a petition calling for an investigation into the horrific scent, which has even been raised in Parliament by Bury South MP Christian Wakeford.
