Ryan Gosling fanboys as he reveals Steven Spielberg hugged him and said he loved upcoming flick The Fall Guy: 'That was an all-time moment for me'

Ryan Gosling has fanboyed over an interaction with legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

The 43-year-old actor opened up about a meeting with the 77-year-old Raiders Of The Lost Ark director in which he praised Gosling's highly-anticipated film The Fall Guy which dropped a trailer months ago.

The two crossed paths at The Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles back in January as Ryan detailed the meeting with Variety on Wednesday: 'I saw Steven Spielberg walking in my direction.

'I don’t know Steven Spielberg. I thought there’s no way he’s coming to talk to me. And yet he kept getting closer, and then I thought I know what’s going to happen. I’m going to point to him, and he’s going to go, "Not you, behind you," so I’m not going to do that.

'Finally I said, "Me?" and he goes, "Yeah you." I go, "I’m sorry I didn’t think you were coming to talk to me." And I stood up and he gave me a hug and said, "I just saw Fall Guy and I loved it."'

Ryan could not believe that the directing legend had heaped so much praise on his latest project and explained that it was very validating.

The actor explained: 'As far as I’m concerned it doesn’t matter anymore what happens.

'Steven Spielberg liked it. That was an all time moment for me. I’m really excited for people to see it. I think it’s a really special movie.'

In The Fall Guy Ryan stars as Colt Seavers who is a stuntman who left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health. He's drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie, which is being directed by his ex, goes missing.

The film also stars Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, Stephanie Hsu, and Adam Dunn.

The forthcoming feature is based on the 1980s television series of the same name and is helmed by John Wick director David Leitch.

The cast of the program was led by Lee Majors of Six Million Dollar Man fame and also included Heather Thomas and Markie Post.

The Fall Guy ran for a total of five seasons, the last of which concluded in 1986.

Development on the film adaptation of the program initially began in 2010, and Martin Campbell was eyed as its director.

The project was later shopped around, and it was announced that McG would direct the feature three years later.

At the time, Dwayne Johnson was in negotiations to serve as the feature's lead.

However, both entertainment industry figures left the project, which was picked up by Leitch in 2020, when it was announced that Gosling had signed on to star.
