Shannen Doherty reveals why she was 'horrified' by Beverly Hills 90210 love triangle plot between Brenda, Dylan and Kelly
Shannen Doherty continues to set the record straight about her time on Beverly Hills 90210.
After revealing a past altercation with castmate Jennie Garth during the 1990s filming of the show, the star expressed being upset over a love triangle plot line involving her character Brenda, Garth's Kelly, and Luke Perry's Dylan.
'I was horrified,' the actress, 52, shared during the latest episode of her podcast Let's Be Clear. 'I was so not into that because I just thought Brenda and Dylan were the best things ever so I didn’t understand anyone wanting to mess up that story line.'
In Season 3, Brenda faces relationship troubles with Dylan when he gets close to her best friend Kelly while she's in Paris for the summer. The girls compete for Dylan's attention, and he ends up choosing Kelly, leaving Brenda upset and alone.
'To have someone’s best friend sleep with her boyfriend is such a betrayal that I don’t even know how Brenda recovered from that,' Shannen continued.

'I don’t think she did recover, personally' she added. 'So I wasn’t thrilled with it, but I didn’t have much say so I went with it.'
The admission comes after Shannen revealed she and Jennie clashed after an on-set prank gone wrong.
'She [Garth] was calling it Pants Down Day where she would pull the pants on some of the crew members in a funny way but some of them were getting pretty annoyed with it,' began Shannen.
'And then I reversed it and I said, "Skirt up day". And she always wore the men's Calvin Klein boxer shorts under her clothes. So I didn't think it was that big of a deal.
'And so I did Skirt Up Day and oh, my God, she lost it on me and I was just not in the mood to back down.'
Back in 2019 Garth revealed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that things almost came to blows between her and Doherty, saying: 'I can only remember one incident and that's when we took it outside.
'I'm a Midwestern girl and I spent some time in Glendale, Arizona, so that makes you tough."

Despite Beverly Hills, 90210's 10-season run on Fox until 2000, Shannen left in 1994.
Her departure, fueled by onscreen tension with costars, sparked speculation of her being fired by executive producer Aaron Spelling.
In a January episode of Let’s Be Clear, Doherty confirmed years of speculation, revealing she was dismissed from the show.
She attributed her inconsistent punctuality to a challenging marriage, having wed Ashley Hamilton in October 1993 and filed for divorce in April 1994.
