Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, is elegant in florals as she visits children during an engagement at Leeds Children's Hospital

The Duchess of Edinburgh was snapped showing off her caring side as she visited a hospital in Yorkshire today.

Sophie, 59, was snapped meeting two-year-old patient Astrid Walker during an engagement at the Paediatric Neurosciences Ward at Leeds Children's Hospital.

She was also photographed meeting patient Brayden McGibbon, 13, and VR play specialist Lucy Dove, who was demonstrating Virtual Reality Distraction Therapy (VRDT), four-month-old Grace Milligan, and James Sinnett.

The mother-of-two, who has some 70 patronages, is known for her interest in and work with young people and children in need of additional care.

During her visit, Sophie wore a midi-length frock with a floral pink featuring white and pink blooms, on a grey background.

The dress had a v-neck with small matching fabric-covered buttons to do it up to the height she wanted it, and three-quarter length sleeves.

Sophie paired the garment with light blue pointed pumps with a medium stiletto heel, matching the colour of her shoes to the background of her dress.

Meanwhile, her blonde locks were pulled casually into a slight side parting, then tied in a low ponytail.

She kept her jewellery low-key, and, sticking with the theme of the outfit, wore blue earrings made from gems crafted into the shape of flowers.

Her make-up was light showing off her impeccable complexion, and she wore a peach blush, light brown smoky eye, and natural pink lip.

Sophie's visit to the hospital today follows another engagement focused on young people last week.

She and husband Prince Edward, 60, attended the All England Open Badminton Championships together.

There, they paired up players, and went head-to-head playing doubles against each other.

Edward and Sophie were also pictured speaking to children during the engagement - both of the couple are also interested in the plight of young people, and support a number of causes to help those in need.

The visit followed Sophie joining a group of schoolchildren in West Sussex a day earlier as she visited Manor Green College in Crawley.

Her visit was in aid of Super Siblings, a charity which provides support to children who have siblings with complex care needs.

The organisation runs play sessions and artistic classes for the children, offering them a chance to socialist with peers who are in the same situation at home.

Manor Green College caters for children between the ages of 11 and 19 who have a wide range of learning difficulties and complex needs.

During her visit, Sophie met with parents and children who are a part of Super Siblings.

As she got stuck in with the day's events at the school, Sophie joined schoolchildren in the gymnasium on the benches. She also joined in with a food technology lesson.

Sophie's visit comes after she spent the weekend celebrating not only Mother's Day, but her husband Prince Edward's 60th birthday.

The couple celebrated the milestone a few days early when they visited Leeds, West Yorkshire.
