Renurak Boonpornsamrit, 36, was working in a department store in Nonthaburi, Thailand when she was cornered by former lover Thaweesak Ngamsanit, 39.

He drenched her with a substance and as Renurak stumbled around the store in agony, her attacker sprinted out of the shop and through the car park.

CCTV captured the moment of the attack with Thaweesak crowding his former partner into an aisle before throwing the acid over her.

She was treated outside the shop with water before an ambulance arrived to rush her to hospital in the Bang Bua Thong district.

Police arrested her attacker and ex-boyfriend four hours later and he was taken to hospital with minor burns from where the acid had splashed onto him.

Renurak later said that she had lived with her attacker and that he had been a good man and looked after her at the start of their relationship.

The couple dated for around nine months before they split in September after he became abusive.
