A Ring doorbell captured the moment Philadelphia rapper Phat Geez was shot dead outside his home over the weekend.

The video clip, which has emerged online, shows the 28-year-old, real name Derrick Gant, exit his home in the Brewerytown area of the city on Saturday evening.

Gant can be seen walking up to a silver car parked outside the residence and can be heard talking with the person inside the vehicle.

The conversation between Gant and those in the car appears to escalate and they start arguing.

Seconds later, Gant falls backwards as gunshots ring out - with the person inside the car firing 12 shots at him as he hits the sidewalk.

Officers were called to the scene just after 10pm and found Gant lying in the street suffering from several gunshot wounds.

The late rapper released the music video for No Gunzone only one month before his death.

The video features the rapper, at one point, singing over a murdered body - covered by a sheet - along a sidewalk with crime scene tape in the area.

Police have made no arrests in the case. The motive and a description of the suspects and their vehicle has not been released.

Gant rose to fame after he released his song Life in 2014 featuring Philly rapper Meek Mill.

He released his first mixtape Cut from a Different Cloth later that year and was releasing music under PricelessLifestyle Records prior to his death.

One of his final songs titled No Gunzone was named in reference to an Instagram account of the same name that promotes anti-violence efforts in the city.

Speaking to CBS, his uncle Marcus Fox told the outlet: 'Now you have a whole family that is just broken. They took something away from us that was valuable.

'To grow up in the streets of Philadelphia and dare to be different is who he was. He took a chance on his own self when nobody else would.

'How dare you, how can you go to sleep at night knowing you did that to someone senselessly?'

Gant had frequently posted about his faith in Islam, and was killed during the holy month of Ramadan.

Fox continued: 'Justice will be served. This is our holiest month of Ramadan. He was Muslim, so we know he is in paradise, but when it comes down to it, we still are left here in grief, in shock and in disbelief.'

Several social media users have paid their respects on platforms X and Instagram since the brutal killing.

Mill also posted a tribute to Gant on his Instagram Story, adding: 'I think it's time we fully break the streets up in Philly! A lot of dummies with guns.'

Media personality Mina Saywhat also commented on Gant's death posting: 'I can not believe Phat Geez is gone. Philly is in a state of emergency.'

On Wednesday, a memorial service for Gant was held at Germantown Masjid before a burial at the Chelten Hills Cemetery, according to Fox.

A $20,000 reward is now being offered by law enforcement for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Gant's murder.
