Steve-O claimed he turned down the opportunity to appear on Bill Maher's podcast because the host would not refrain from smoking pot during their interview.

The 49-year-old Jackass star, who has been sober for nearly 16 years, made the allegation about the comedian, 68, on a recent episode of his Wild Ride! podcast

'I'm a clean and sober guy. It's very important that I maintain my sobriety, it's approaching 16 years,' Steve-O told listeners. 'I am about to be sweet 16. Really, there's nothing I value more than my sobriety.'

The Wimbledon native went on to explain that there's 'nothing more' important to him than staying sober and his recover.

'I found it kind of upsetting when the Bill Maher podcast reached out and he smokes pot the whole time while he interviews people. I said I'd happily go on there, but while I'm on, out of respect for my sobriety, could he refrain from smoking pot. He said no and that's a dealbreaker,' Steve-O claimed.

Maher noted he was taken aback that Maher would not forgo weed for one interview, despite other podcast hosts always accommodating his request.

'Mike Tyson's podcast is called 'Hotboxin,'' Steve-O added. 'Be real! All of these prolific potheads, I've been on their shows and it wasn't so important to them to blow marijuana smoke in my face, but for Bill Maher it was a dealbreaker.'

Maher regularly smokes throughout Club Random interviews and has been vocal about his support for marijuana legalization for decades.

Previously, Maher has seemingly respected other guests' wishes, and footage of him telling Sheryl Crow that he would 'never light' up a joint in front of her have begun to resurface online.

In November 2023, Steve-O said that he finds even the smell of marijuana 'kind of upsetting' on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

'I don't like breathing it into my lungs and what's worse, I love the way it smells,' he explained.

The entertainer said he always made an effort to avoid really hard drugs, but he has tried almost everything.

'I never tried heroin and if I tried crack cocaine I'm pretty sure I did it wrong. Other than that, I did everything,' he said.

'Any other disease, the best you can hope for is to get back to where you were before the disease. But for addicts, when we treat ourselves we become a better version than before.'

He said he was at peace with dying because he had achieved so much throughout his career as a daredevil stuntman.

'The body is not a temple. It's meant to be ridden until the wheels fall off,' he added.
