Victoria Beckham at 50: How the Spice Girl 'likes being older' and is 'not trying to turn back the clock' because she 'wouldn't want to be 25 again'

Victoria Beckham marked her milestone 50th birthday on Wednesday and shared an emotional Instagram post where she reflected on her life and gushed that she was 'blessed, but also accomplished and deeply content.'

The fashion designer shot to fame in the 1990s as a member of The Spice Girls, when she was in her early 20s.

But three decades later, and Victoria has said that she feels more comfortable in her own skin than ever, and 'wouldn't want to be 25 again'.

Speaking last year ahead of the big 5-0, the singer said she embraces ageing and 'accepts how she looks'.

She explained that in her youth she was 'tough' on her appearance, focusing on what she felt needed to be improved upon.

Now older and wiser, the mother-of-four insisted she has no 'hang-ups' and only wants to look like her 'best version', rather than as she did when she was younger.

Speaking to The Sunday Times a year ago, Victoria said: 'I am comfortable with who I am, I accept how I look, I make the best of what I have. I feel, professionally and personally, really accomplished at 49.'

She added: 'I like how it feels being older. I wouldn’t want to be 25 again. I was the kind of young woman who would look in the mirror and see what needed to be improved upon, as opposed to what actually looked OK.

'I’ve always been quite tough on myself, but because of that I’ve also always strived to be the best version of myself. '

She also opened up about how she approaches beauty, insisting she doesn't have Botox, lip fillers, or a nose job, while admitting she found all the cosmetic surgeries available 'scary options'.

Victoria explained: 'I’m not trying to turn back the clock. I’m 49 and don’t have a hang-up about it.'

Instead she revealed she undergoes some laser and skin tightening treatments, insisting that 'it's about little things'.

She added: 'It’s not about changing anything, it’s just about looking at the best version of yourself. I have more muscle tone at 49 than I did at 25.

' I don’t obsess over it, but I think age shouldn’t stop you from achieving personal goals. You can still look great. You know more about your body, you know what works.

'I know what I’ve got to do in the gym, I know what I’ve got to eat, I know more about what works on my face. Knowledge is a great thing.'

In 2019, Victoria reiterated that she was fine with growing older and said she wants to 'look good for her age' rather than younger.

Speaking on This Morning, she said: 'I'm fine with growing older. I'm not trying to look any younger at all. I just wanna look good for my age.

'I wanna look like the best version of myself. I wanna look after what I have. I don't really want to change anything. And I'm okay with that. I like how getting older feels.

'I'm okay with how it looks, because it is what it is. Everybody is going to get older. [But] I don't love how it [getting older] sounds.'

On the eve of her 50th birthday Victoria took to her Instagram to share a lengthy message, thanking her husband David and their four 'beautiful' children for their 'unconditional love and support', as she marked the milestone.

The beauty mogul declared: 'As I get ready to step into 50 (in heels, of course!), I feel so incredibly blessed to have reached this milestone.'

She went onto gush about her career highlights, saying she was 'blessed, but also accomplished and deeply content.'

'Not just of where I am as a woman, but of how far my fashion and beauty brands have come.'

'My ambition was always to empower women and make them feel like the best version of themselves. To me, that meant trusting my instinct and never compromising on my creative vision.'

She added that she was proud of her career trajectory, from pop star to fashion designer, writing: 'I believe that you can be many things. A pop star, a mother, a wife, a designer…'

'My passion has always been to dream big, then dream even bigger! Believe in yourself first — everyone else will follow. And if you’re really lucky, you’ll find someone who believes in you even more than you do.'

Thanking David, the star gushed that she was 'forever grateful for your unconditional love and support, and for our beautiful children.'

'@BrooklynPeltzBeckham, @RomeoBeckham, @CruzBeckham you complete me. I’m so proud, so in awe of the kind, hard-working, talented individuals you are all becoming.'

Ending her post with a promise that she will continue to strive for for more, Victoria declared: 'So, here’s to doing more of what I love with the people I love. I’m so thankful for my family, my friends, and my incredible team!

'This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter, and I’m only just getting started. Mummy and daddy, I love you. Kisses Victoria xx'.
