Open Sourced Licence

The world's first Open-Sourced Licence

Objectives

In the cyberspace, we see a variety of "Open Source Licences" for software--such as GPL (GNU), the Apple Public Source Licence, the BSD Licence etc. However, all these licences are under the control of their respective providers.

To be true to its objectives, we need a licence that itself is open sourced--which hasn't been observed as yet. The OSL (Open Sourced Licence) is an effort in this direction:

Version 0.0.1

$dated July 25th, 2002

Preamble

Anyone using a software accompanying OSL (Open Sourced Licence) is allowed to change OSL at will. "Software" has been used as a word due to the future possiblity of the OSL being used primarily for computer software licensing (see below).

Terms and conditions for copying, distribution, and modification

The OSL can be used as a licence for any kind of information, (computer programs, papers, graphics etc). If you develop anything which might be classified as "information" you can licence it using OSL.
You are allowed to use this licence and the included software in a way that maximizes its chances of being used by the next generation of developers, where next generation denotes a group that makes further changes to OSL or the accompanying software. How you determine this is left to your own wise judgements.

How to apply these terms to your new programs

A software released under this licence must be used under the terms and conditions specified in this section. If you modify this licence to a newer version, it must contain the preamble of OSL version 0.0.1, the terms and conditions of OSL version 0.0.1, and this section of OSL version 0.0.1 A software recieved with a OSL version cannot be re-released with a modified licence until and unless the software itself has undergone a change, the original author consenting.
