Mrs Françoise ZweifelMrs Françoise Zweifel, employed in 1982 and appointed IOC Secretary General in 1985, announced that she would be relinquishing her functions at a time to be agreed upon with the new IOC President.

Madame Zweifel has worked for the IOC for almost 20 years, and has been responsible for, among other things, the organisation of the staff and IOC logistics for the Olympic Games and all IOC meetings, as well as the construction and fitting-out of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

“I have had the privilege to experience this exceptional adventure, and have put all my heart and soul into fulfilling my function, hoping to demonstrate that a woman and mother could organise her life whilst combining these different responsibilities. I should like to thank President Samaranch for the opportunity he has afforded me, as well as all the IOC members for their confidence. I will never forget Mr Gafner (Honorary IOC Member), who proposed my employment.

I should also like to thank all the staff at the IOC and the Olympic Museum for their help. Together we have made a great team.”
