Hey Greg! Hope you are doing well.

I realize it's a long shot, but you've mentioned the 2001 story bible a few times, and I was curious whether you might ever be able to share it (or parts of it). Since it's sort of the genesis of the Bionicle story, it would be really incredible for us fans to see, but I understand sharing it might be an issue as far as how much the LEGO Group is willing to make public.

Thanks!

I no longer have it. My office here has moved a bunch of times over the last 15 years, and each time I move, I toss more stuff. So that is long gone.

Fair enough. The only thing I can speak to is the story bible, which as I said did not mention the Vahi at all. I had no involvement with the aborted PC game, and the one person I know who did left LEGO Company 11 years ago. So I don't have info on what was and was not going to be in the game.

Okay, thank you. I've been trying to figure out which elements of the PC game made their way into other Bionicle media and which ones didn't. To me the Vahi felt kind of tacked on to the 2003 storyline and when I learned it was in the game it made me curious, is all. Smile

When did you officially join the Bionicle story team? I assumed that since you started doing the comics in 2001 you would've been privy to the concepts in the PC game, since it was going to the be the main story vehicle for that year.

Early on, work on BIONICLE pretty much consisted of getting the story bible and working from there. I didn't really get involved in meetings until prep work for the 2003 movie, and even then, I really had no hand in crafting story, it was just being told what decisions had been made. I was good friends with the guy who was working on the PC game from the LEGO end of things, but all I was told was that the wrap-up with Makuta in '01 was going to happen there.

I see, that makes sense! The topic of how all the various multimedia projects interacted in the early days really fascinates me. I'm glad we at got the final battle with Makuta in visual form in MNOG, he had some great dialogue there. I kinda miss Makuta's portrayal as a primal force of destruction, but that was probably just an act.

And onto a weirder question: If an infected Kanohi and a Krana are both affixed to a Rahi at the same time, which one will dominate: Makuta's will or that of the Bahrag? Or will they cancel each other out? (This is of course assuming the Rahi is able to wear two masks at once, like a Kane-Ra or Manas.)

Re: Chat with Greg Farshtey

Now that the entire Dark Island trilogy is out, what was your favorite part about writing the trilogy?

Were it possible, the Kanohi would dominate, because a Makuta has a stronger will than a Bahrag.

Probably the fight between Wu and his shadow self. The outline left that pretty wide open and so I got to have some fun with that scene and address some things I wanted to for a while.

Can you tell us about the Zygorax (The destructive race during the Mahri Nuy arc)?

1) Unknown

2) No. Kanohi are designed for use by artificially created biomechanical beings. Residents of Spherus Magna are organic. It's like asking if you could power yourself up by putting some AA batteries in your backpack. You don't run on batteries.

3) No

Do you mean the Zyglak? And what do you want to know? All the info that exists on them is pretty much already public.

What's different about writing the Ninjago books than writing material for Bionicle? Aside from the obvious character racesJoking

Re: Chat with Greg Farshtey

Ok, I wasn't able to find anything about them when I checked.

I guess my other question is: What did the bohrok do inside of Mata Nui's body?

No; the Vorox are just the Glatorian of the Sand Tribe while the Skrall are a different species

The Vorox mutated from the sand tribe, and the Skrall might be a different species (But if Atakus is an Agori, and Zesk is a Rahi, I would assume that the Vorox is the seperate species and not the scrall)

How about Greg answer the original question:

(Adding onto this: are Skrall and Glatorian genetically close enough that any resultant offspring are fertile? Or have they diverged far enough that hybrids either don't exist or are infertile?)

Re: Chat with Greg Farshtey

Prove or disprove this theory:

Bionicles are born when the two parents build a tiny robot out of their spare parts.

This is partialy a joke and partialy a real explanation
