ARD SCOIL RIS 3-16
ST DECLAN'S 1-7

Diarmuid Connolly was once again the Ard Scoil Ris scorer-in-chief when hitting 2-5 as his side were crowned Dublin Colleges Juvenile A football champions at St Clare's, DCU on Wednesday afternoon.

The Nephin Road side under the guidance of Na Fianna and Dublin forward, Senan Connell, tried to the bitter end but they were outclassed by a superb Ris effort.

Ris flew out of the blocks and with points from Niall Bayliss, Diarmuid Connolly (2) and Orey Roche(2)
were 0-5 to 0-0 up after just six minutes.

However, the match was decided as contest in the closing minutes of the first half when two goals from Ard Scoil Ris' Diarmuid Connolly, who had switched from centre-forward to the edge of the square to help his team to a 2-9 to 0-6 interval lead.

As the match progressed, an overworked Declan's defence simply couldn't cope with the pace and accuracy of the Ard Scoil Ris forwards - all of whom got on the scoreboard before the final whistle.

In contrast, St Declan's were over-reliant on the ability of midfielder Maurice Curran who hit 0-7 of his team's 1-7 total.

A final word about Ris captain Diarmuid Connolly. In nine games he hit
an astonishing 17 goals and 40 points, surely a record for any league at any level this year!!
