Academic highlights: Egalitarian school supported by parents, grandparents and local Jewish community. Girls and boys participate equally in all areas of academics and Jewish ritual. School emphasizes respect for diversity of families and of Jewish viewpoints. Beneficiary of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and the Samis Foundation.

Improving student achievement: School is going through self-study process, reviewing curriculum and school policies. After-school enrichment activities include chess club, math/science program, art, homework club. Learning specialist works with low-performing students.

Resources include: Library. Specialists teach music, foreign language, PE.

Technology used for: Students begin using computers at 3rd grade for reports, word processing, games, Internet research, PowerPoint presentations.

Parent/community support: Active parent association coordinates annual auction, which raised more than $80,000 in 2002; organize social events and staff-appreciation activities. Parents serve as room parents, assist with field trips.
