Overview
The Georgia Department of Transportation will reconstruct the I-20/I-520 interchange in Richmond County. This project is designed to replace the existing interchange configuration, increase capacity and reduce noise pollution in this area. Georgia DOT also has a second project that will widen I-20 from Belair Road to Wheeler Road in Columbia and Richmond counties.
Improvements
- Increased storm water retention reducing discharges into Cranes Creek Drainage Basin
- Installation of sound walls for comfort of residents and businesses
- More sophisticated and clean urban aesthetic
- Separation of local trip and through traffic
