VICKIE WINANS MOURNS THE LOSS OF MOTHER, MATTIE BOWMAN: Bowman passes away Tuesday night

Just months ago, we reported the sad news that the elderly mother of Vickie Winans had suffered a heart attack. On Tuesday night, December 12, Mother Mattie Bowman, as she was affectionately known, drew her final breath.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Winans who had a close relationship with her mother, often sharing her with fans through various projects. She is pictured (see below) with her daughter inside the CD case for Winans’ 20th Anniversary release, “Woman to Woman Songs of Life.”

The home-going service was held at Perfecting Church in Detroit Michigan on Sunday, December 17.

Via Black Gospel Promo, Vickie Winans issued this statement:

“Myself and my entire family wish to thank all of you in advance for your love, support, prayers, flowers, gifts, emails, words of encouragement, smiles, hugs, and whatever else you have given and will give us! We love you so much! My Mother will suffer no more! She is finally with Jesus! And in her own words she would say, "Hey Glory!"
