Bands:

Symphonic Band

Conductor: Dr. Peter Morris

The Symphonic Band is the college’s premier wind, brass & percussion ensemble and members are selected by audition only.  The pace is quick, with a focus on sight-reading and efficient concert preparation.  Although the individual ability levels of the 55 students in this ensemble vary, the aim is that all boys are stretched and given challenges without having impossible expectations!

Concert Band

Conductor: Ms. Justine Lawrence

The Concert Band is an ensemble full of committed and dedicated young musicians. made up of boys in year 7-12 who did not successfully audition into Symphonic Band. Their conductor this year is Miss Justine Lawrence and she looks forward to working with such an enthusiastic group of musicians.

Year 6 Band

Conductor: Mrs Samantha Sleep

The Year 6 Band is comprised of the year 6 Brass, Woodwind and Percussion classes which take place during curricular time during the school days.  This gives the boys an opportunity to put their hard work in small sections into one large combined effort.  All year 6 boys playing are required to participate in the co-curricular ensemble specific to their instrument or voice.  Unlike the year 5 introductory program, year 6 boys need to have a proper concert performance uniform.  Mrs Samantha Sleep will again be the conductor of the year 6 Band this year.

Year 5 Band

Conductor: Dr. Peter Morris

The Year 5 Band is comprised of the year 5 Brass and Woodwind classes which take place during curricular time during the school days. This band rehearses together only in Term 2 and 3, and it is during a school period, so no regular morning or afternoon rehearsals are required.  It’s very rewarding for the boys to combine for their first large-band experience after a term of learning their fundamentals in smaller classes.  The performance uniform for Year 5 Ensembles is simply their grey College uniform.
