Global Health Corp
Grant Awarded 2009

Global Health Corps (http://ghcorps.org) is improving the quality of healthcare services for the poor and mobilizing a global community of young leaders to build a movement for health equity. In particular, they are addressing the unjust and unsustainable disparity in health outcomes and healthcare access that exists today between the world's rich and the world's poor. Global Health Corps connects outstanding young leaders from the US and developing countries in high-impact, skills-based yearlong fellowships at organizations working for global health equity. Through this work, GHC trains, supports, mentors, and connects fellows to create a broad-based network of new global leaders in global health.

Barbara Bush, GHC President, worked for Red Cross Children's Hospital in Capetown, South Africa and interned for UNICEF in Botswana before working for the Smithsonian Institution for two years. She has traveled extensively with the UN World Food Programme, focusing on the importance of nutrition in ARV treatment. Barbara is a member of UNICEF's Next Generation Steering Committee and is on the Board of Directors for Covenant House International. Barbara graduated from Yale University with a degree in Humanities in 2004.

Jonny Dorsey, GHC Executive Director, took a two-year leave of absence after his sophomore year of college to co-found FACE AIDS, where he served as Executive Director for two years before returning to school and transitioning to the board. Jonny was the President of the Student Body at Stanford in 2008-09, during which time he promoted a culture of public service on campus. Jonny graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Human Biology with a concentration in "Addressing Health Disparities" in June 2009.
