16:10:NEXT STOP, SUZUKA
Three points. That's all the separates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
On the face of it, it's nothing with 150 still on the table. But this win, Hamilton's second on the bounce and seventh to Rosberg's four, was huge in terms of momentum.
Rosberg needs to respond by sticking his car on pole at Suzuka and taking a dominant victory. If Hamilton beats him again, the Briton could run away with it.
Thanks for your company, it's been a blast. Until next time, it's good afternoon from me. See ya.
-
16:05:
Nico Rosberg gamely turns out for the Mercedes team photo, but he can understandably barely raise a smile as everyone else cheers Lewis Hamilton's race victory - his seventh of a season.
-
16:02:
Next stop on the F1 World Championship is Japan's iconic Suzuka circuit, which will be live across the BBC. It's an early start, with first practice kicking off at 02:00 BST on Friday 3 October. I'll be with you from 01:30.
-
Fernando Alonso: I fought until the last lap. So close to the leaders. Confirmed: The best weekend so far. More to come in 15 days!!

15:56:
Here's Andrew Benson's developing race report. We'll have video highlights on the website later today, with a sparkly highlights show hitting your screens on BBC One at 17:00 BST.

15:53:
Little wonder that Daniil Kvyat suffered from dehydration after his Torro Rosso team revealed his drinks bottle failed before the race even started. It's incredible that he managed to cope until the end.
-
Fernando Alonso: Amazing fans here at the circuit and all of you from home!! Proud of you and big thanks again!!
-
15:49:
Williams' Felipe Massa admits that even if he had pitted for tyres during the safety car, he would still have finished fifth but would have been closer to Fernando Alonso. His team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who was on slightly older tyres, says his tyres died on the last lap causing him to lose places and finish out the points in 11th. Nevertheless, Williams stay ahead of Ferrari in third in the constructors' for now.
-
15:46:
Mercedes lead Red Bull in the constructors' championship by 174 points, with Williams 118 further back. Ferrari are in fourth, nine points adrift.
-
15:43:
That's only the second time this season that Red Bull, the reigning world champions, have got two drivers on the podium. It's Vettel's best result of the season and third podium of the year. For Ricciardo, it's seventh podium.
-
15:39:
So this is the first time since after the Spanish Grand Prix in May that Lewis Hamilton leads the drivers' standings. This is how it stands with five races to go. Hamilton leads Nico Rosberg by three points and Daniel Ricciardo by a further 57.

15:36:DIDN'T I DO WELL?
Lewis Hamilton does his best Bruce Forsyth impression as he celebrates his seventh victory of the season.
-
Mercedes: Spare a thought too for Nico Rosberg - desperate bad luck but he'll be back better than ever in Japan!
-
15:33:
Jean-Eric Vergne matched his best finish of the season with sixth, moving his tally to 19, 11 clear of Toro Rosso team-mate Daniil Kvyat. Despite outscoring his younger team-mate, Toro Rosso have chosen not to re-sign him for next season. So it's just as well the Frenchman is performing at just the right time as he looks to secure a seat on the grid elsewhere.
-
15:30:
Mercedes co-team boss Toto Wolff says it Nico Rosberg's Mercedes had a hardware problem, a loom within the steering column broke.
-
15:27:
Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo on Fernando Alonso going off and giving Vettel but not the Australian the place back at the first corner: "I will have to have a look, he went off, I knew he would give it back to Seb but he didn't give it back to me. I had to focus on regrouping. To get on podium is not a bad result."
-
15:23:
"It is a circuit I really enjoy," says Sebastian Vettel, who has finished on the podium in each of the last five Singapore Grands Prix. "The atmosphere is great but it is tough. I had a good start, got past Daniel, then had a decent race, but the safety car came at the worst point for us with tyres borderline."
-
15:20:
"I had dream this would happen last night," says Lewis Hamilton. "A huge thanks to the team. What we've done this year is incredible. I knew we have a car we can fight with, and it was a great feeling throughout the race."
On his final pit stop: "The pressure was not too bad. I didn't not know the situation, if, for example the safety car would come out, but I knew we had a chance to get by."
On taking the lead in the drivers' championship: "Things have changed for me absolutely. I looked for a clean weekend and this was it. We always strive to get both cars 1-2 that was our goal, so things still to work on."
-
15:16:
Lovely atmosphere on the podium with all three soaking each other in the bubbly stuff. Lewis Hamilton has a sip of champagne and then readies himself for the post-race interviews, which will be carried out by our very own Eddie Jordan.
-
-
15:15:

CHEQUERED FLAG
Lewis Hamilton wins the Singapore Grand Prix.
-
LAST LAP
We've switched to a time-limited race, because we're approaching the two-hour time limit.
-
LAP 60
Jean-Eric Vergne is having a stunner. He passes Kimi Raikkonen and then Valtteri Bottas to run sixth. He needs to now open up a five-second lead to ensure he'll definitely keep this position because of a five-second penalty.
-
David Coulthard, BBC F1 co-commentator
"Valtteri Bottas is doing a great job handling the pressure. One mistake will lose him not just one, but two places."
-
LAP 59
We have three laps remaining - or three minutes, whichever is sooner. Meanwhile, Jean-Eric Vergne passes Nico Hulkenberg for eighth place, but he'll have a five-second penalty added to his time for exceeding track limits.
-
LAP 58
Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso are running in close proximity, but none of the trio look able to launch a pass. If it stays like this, it means Alonso's gamble to pit during the safety car hasn't worked out.
-

Karen Prophet: Like candy from a baby

-
LAP 57
There are five laps - or six minutes - remaining, with Lewis Hamilton leading by six seconds with Sebastian Vettel second and Daniel Ricciardo third.
-
David Coulthard, BBC F1 co-commentator
"It is heartening to see three different manufacturers running so close so near the end of this grand prix."
-
LAP 56
Pastor Maldonado's hopes of scoring his first point of the season look all but over as Kevin Magnussen passes him for 10th. Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo puts pressure on Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel with Fernando Alonso in turn putting pressure on Ricciardo. That's the fight for second, third and fourth.
-
LAP 55
Fernando Alonso chases Daniel Ricciardo, the Spaniard is just 0.6 seconds behind, but he can't find a way through. Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, is flying away at the front. If he stays where he is, Hamilton will take the lead of the drivers' championship for only the second time this year.
-
LAP 54- LEWIS HAMILTON LEADS
Lewis Hamilton is all over the back of Sebastian Vettel and after a few corners, makes the pass move at Turn Seven to reclaim the lead. Vettel, on much older tyres, could do very little there. Meanwhile, Jenson Button retires after a loss of power.
-
LAP 53
Nico Rosberg watches the race from the pit-wall as Lewis Hamilton sets off in pursuit of race leader Sebastian Vettel. Hamilton is on fresher tyres and is so much quicker than the German. You sense it's only a matter of time.
-
LAP 52
Lewis Hamilton pits and takes on the soft tyres. It's a good stop. But is it enough to get out in front of the Red Bulls? No! Sebastian Vettel takes the lead, but Daniel Ricciardo hasn't done enough and can only watch Hamilton slot in in front of him in second.
-
TEAM RADIO
Lewis Hamilton: "My right rear is getting seriously worn. I'm not sure it will explode or not."
-
David Coulthard, BBC F1 co-commentator
"If they do a perfect pit stop it is possible Lewis can come out between the two Red Bulls."

Lewis Hamilton leads by 21.1 seconds with 12 laps to go.
-
David Coulthard, BBC F1 co-commentator
"Hamilton's gap is not increasing as much as it was. Last time around it was 0.8 secs and he was saying on his radio his rear tyres are going off. He may have to do the overtaking on the track."
-
LAP 48
Pastor Maldonado, who crashed on Friday, is currently 10th and on course to score his first point of the year.
-
LAP 47
Lewis Hamilton leads by 20.3 seconds now, with Sebastian Vettel second and Daniel Ricciardo third. Fernando Alonso is almost in the DRS window as he chases Ricciardo, the gap just 1.2 seconds.

-
LAP 45
Fernando Alonso is starting to close the gap on Daniel Ricciardo in the battle for third, while Lewis Hamilton extends his lead to 17 seconds. The Mercedes driver is two seconds quicker than anyone else. Super job.
-
TEAM RADIO
Toro Rosso's Daniil Kvyat: "Sorry guys, but without the drink I'm dying here."
-
LAP 44
Lewis Hamilton leads by 15.6 seconds. He needs about 22 for a pit stop. If Hamilton doesn't get a big enough gap, he will likely rejoin in fourth, with Vettel, Ricciardo and Alonso all moving ahead of him and all trying not to stop again. So Hamilton will have to pass all three to win, albeit on fresher tyres.
-
Marussia's Alexander Rossi on 5 live: "I can't think how nuclear Lewis would go if they don't win this race."
-
David Coulthard, BBC F1 co-commentator
"Daniel Ricciardo is just 1.1 secs behind Sebastian Vettel and will be losing some down force. You don't want to be sliding around getting to the end of the race."
-
LAP 43
Mercedes says they are targeting another seven laps on these tyres for Lewis Hamilton. "Isn't that a bit risky if a safety car comes out?" asks Hamilton. "No," comes the reply. "We'll be straight in if that's the case."

TEAM RADIO
Williams' Valtteri Bottas: "Steering feels a bit weird. It's a bit sticky."
-
LAP 35
Lewis Hamilton is giving the safety car a hurry up, the Briton all too aware that he needs to keep the temperatures up in those tyres. When we get back under way, Hamilton will have work to do. He has an extra pit stop to make as he hasn't used the soft tyres yet. His rivals have used both so don't have to stop.
Lapped cars can now overtake the safety car, so we should be back under way shortly.

It's a perfect start for Lewis Hamilton, who needs to make the most of his team-mate Nico Rosberg's frustration. Sebastian Vettel takes advantage of the clear space ahead of him, with Rosberg in the pits, and passes Daniel Ricciardo. Fernando Alonso makes a brilliant start, too, running second but he outbrakes himself into Turn One and has to give the place back to Vettel.

BBC Sport's chief F1 writer Andrew Benson in Singapore: "This will be a difficult race for the teams on the strategy front. Tyre wear is a bit of an unknown after all the rain and the fastest and favoured strategy is likely to be a three-stop. Some will try to make it on two, but it will be a stretch. The super-soft is predicted to last 15-20 laps and that will be the favoured race tyre as it is as much as 1.5 seconds faster than the soft, which most will probably save until the end. It will be a reactive race, with teams responding to the wear of the tyres and look out for the aggressive 'under-cut' where teams stop earlier than their rivals to try to jump them."

Kimi Raikkonen says he has only led Alonso for 19% of the racing laps in 2014, the worst record of any driver relative to a team-mate this season.
-
Andrew Benson, Chief F1 writer in Singapore
"Kimi Raikkonen was finally been the driver everyone knows he can be in qualifying on Saturday. He had looked a long way off Fernando Alonso through practice, with a succession of problems, including with the brakes. But after changing the car for qualifying, it fell into that sweet spot he needs to excel in the way he can when things are right. Nip and tuck with Alonso throughout, just 0.027secs behind after their first runs in final qualifying, it was unfortunate he suffered an engine problem on his final run.
"'It was a feeling I can drive it as I want, I can put it where I want,' Raikkonen said. 'It felt kind of easy compared to what I have been fighting all year. And every corner was a guessing game before. Now I could drive it and trust in what would happen and drive my own way and when you get that things get a lot easier and you see it straight away in the lap times. Places like this if you struggle with the front end you can easily be half a second or a second slower. It was a nice feeling and it would have been nice to finish the whole qualifying but things happen and hopefully we sort out the issues and can go in that direction and make sure every practice, every race we make sure I get the good feeling.'"

-
David Coulthard, BBC F1 co-commentator
"It is fantastic, the view, skyline and the atmosphere is electric. A real sense a lot of teams are sorting out their issues. Mercedes are still frontrunners, but Red Bull and Ferrari are making their way forward."
-
Andrew Benson, Chief F1 writer in Singapore
"The positivity was almost tangible at Ferrari after their most competitive qualifying session of the year. Fernando Alonso was a genuine contender at the front and Kimi Raikkonen was right with him for once until an engine problem cost him a chance to go for a final lap. Alonso admitted it had been 'quite a surprise' to be so competitive. From fifth, on the clean side of the grid, he could be a real factor in the race, and he scents a podium - and when he's in that mood he is very hard to knock off the scent.
"'The podium is closer than ever because the level of competitiveness is quite good this weekend,' he said. 'We are competitive and start in the top five so why not think of the podium? But victory; it is very optimistic, but we'll see. It is a circuit very demanding on the mechanical side as well. So we see how many cars can finish the race, how many mechanical issues we all could face. There are many things you need to have under control.' His record here is excellent - he has won twice and only been off the podium once, when he was fourth, in the six years of the race so far."
-
12:58:
As the grid clears Nico Rosberg turns hard to the left and then to the right. He could be resetting the power steering.
-
12:57:
Nico Rosberg is told that he needs to try and do the start manually. If that isn't possible, he will have to start from the pit-lane.
-
12:56:
Sergio Perez scored in all three Singapore GP starts despite never starting in the top-10 here, and Marina Bay last year was the beginning of a strong season run-in for Perez, scoring in six of the final seven races.
-
Andrew Benson, Chief F1 writer in Singapore
"Williams had not expected to go particularly well in Singapore, as a tight street circuit does not suit their car, the biggest strength of which is its straight-line efficiency. But they have been working hard on it since a disappointing Monaco and they were satisfied with sixth and eighth, each driver directly behind a Ferrari, with whom they are battling for third in the constructors' championship.
"Fernando Alonso said it was vital that he and Kimi Raikkonen both finished ahead of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas, to recover ground lost in Spa and Monza. Williams are equally keen to stop them."
-
12:55:
Fernando Alonso of Renault actually went on to win that race in 2008, with Williams' Rosberg finishing second and Lewis Hamilton third.
Alonso's chances of victory had looked bleak when he qualified 15th but the race opened up for him when an early safety-car period tallied perfectly with the team's strategy.
But it later transpired that his Renault team had fixed the race, with team-mate Nelson Piquet Jr crashing deliberately, under team orders, to bring out the safety car.
Team boss Flavio Briatore was banned from the sport indefinitely, while director of engineering Pat Symonds was given a five-year ban. Both punishments, however, were overturned on appeal.
-
12:54:YOU ALWAYS REMEMBER THE FIRST
Formula 1 broke new ground in 2008 when Singapore hosted the sport's first ever night race - and it turned out to be an event no one would ever forget.
Ferrari's Felipe Massa had looked set to dominate, leading from pole position and pulling away from title rival Hamilton early on.
But during his first pit stop, he was given the green light to leave before the team had removed the refuelling hose.
The Brazilian pulled away, knocking over a mechanic and dragging the hose down the pit-lane. He stopped at the exit and was forced to wait while his mechanics ran after him to remove it.
His afternoon was made worse when he was given a drive-through penalty for leaving the pit dangerously and ultimately finished 13th.
-
12:53:
The top scorer in the last five races is not a Mercedes driver but rather Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo with 83 points and is currently 60 points clear of his teammate with six races remaining, even without the 18 points he lost with disqualification in Melbourne.

Sebastian Vettel has never finished outside the top-five in a Singapore GP, has never been outqualified by a team-mate on this track, and has never qualified lower than third since he joined Red Bull in 2009.
However, the four-time world champion has his worst start in Singapore, starting fourth, since he raced for Toro Rosso back in 2008. It's also the first time since Germany that he has been outqualified by his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo.
-
Andrew Benson, Chief F1 writer in Singapore
"Can Red Bull challenge Mercedes for victory? They think they have the pace, but Sebastian Vettel admitted it won't be easy. 'It will be very tricky because if everyone's pace is like qualifying, we are very close to each other,' the world champion said. 'If you can go 0.2secs faster around here you overtake, so its not that straightforward, but the tyres will fall apart at some stage. That's what hopefully we can wait for and hopefully we are not falling apart before the others are in trouble. Strategy depends on how the tyres behave in the race. It has been up and down all weekend.'"

Mechanics are working hard on Nico Rosberg's car, it seems there is an electronics problem with the German's steering wheel.

Lewis Hamilton: "[Practice] start was good."
-
Andrew Benson, Chief F1 writer in Singapore
"Daniel Ricciardo arrived in Singapore saying that if he could qualify within 0.2secs of the Mercedes, he could think of challenging them in the race. And that's exactly where he is - 0.173secs from Lewis Hamilton on pole. 'It's going to be a fun race,' he said. Team-mate Sebastian Vettel was just 0.048secs behind his team-mate, but annoyed with himself for over-driving.
"He admits he is still trying to approach corners in the way he did in the 2013 car, but this year's doesn't have the grip. 'It's not yet doing what I want it to do,' said Vettel, who felt pole had gone begging. 'I want to push and make something happen; it just doesn't. It just maybe doesn't give me yet what I want in a certain part of the corner but that's not an excuse because in the end I have to get the best out of the car. I could have done a better job today by getting a better lap together but I didn't so I can't be happy with that. I should have been higher up but I'm not.'"

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso's 86-race run without a mechanical retirement ended in Monza in what was his first failure to see the flag as a result of a car problem since his engine failure with three laps remaining in the 2010 Malaysia GP (pictured).
It also meant Ferrari came close to ending their record points streak, but Kimi Raikkonen's ninth place extended the run to 80 grands prix in a row.
-
12:38:
But as I hit return on that last entry, after a few tweaks the steering wheel goes back on and Nico Rosberg leaves the garage.
-
12:36:
Nico Rosberg has been wheeled back into the garage. It looks like there's an issue around the steering wheel area.
-
12:34:
Singapore is usually the longest race of the year in terms of time. The 2012 event was the first F1 race to run to the two-hour limit in dry conditions since Ayrton Senna (pictured) won the 1991 United States GP in Phoenix, another street circuit.
As a result, the 2012 event was two laps shorter than its scheduled distance of 61 laps.
-
12:32:
There's a bit of a mess down at the pit-lane exit as a Marussia and Caterham stall, causing a back up of cars before the marshals can get in position and roll them out of the way. Drivers tend to do a practice start before they head round to the grid to ensure all is well with their cars.
-
12:30:THE PIT-LANE IS OPEN
The pit lane has opened its doors, which means drivers are free to leave their garages and head out on track to take their place on the grid.
-
Andrew Benson, Chief F1 writer in Singapore
"Why have Mercedes' rivals been so close to them around the demanding Marina Bay track? That is the question most in F1 were pondering after qualifying. The answer seems to lie in the relationship between the super-soft tyres and the Mercedes car, and the fact that this track is not what is known as 'power-sensitive' - in other words, having a better engine makes less of a difference. As for the tyres, any F1 car understeers when softer tyres are put on because the rear tyres are wider than the front, so the grip increase is correspondingly greater at the rear.
"And such is Mercedes' rear grip that this characteristic is heightened on their car. The corollary of that is that they suffer more from understeer than others - which is not what a driver wants when he's trying to be precise on a street circuit. The Ferrari, by contrast, lacks traction, so benefits by comparison. Both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were confident, though, they would still have an edge in the race."
-
12:28:
Mercedes took their seventh one-two finish of the year in Italy and can still beat McLaren's 10 1-2 finishes in 1988 and their 15 wins in a single season (a record they share with Ferrari in 2002 and 2004). Mercedes have 10 wins entering this weekend, with six races still to go.

12:25:HOW THEY STAND
So Nico Rosberg leads the way in the drivers' standings, 22 points clear of Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton with six races - including today - and 175 points remaining. Daniel Ricciardo is the nearest challenger, but he's 50 points adrift in third.
-
12:23:
Nico Rosberg, who has been cycling into the paddock each day, missed pole by 0.007s, the equivalent of 49 centimetres (1.6ft) at the line. He'll start second, but if he is to win today, he will be the first driver ever to do so having started from an even-numbered grid position.
-
Nico Rosberg: So great to meet the silver arrow legend sir Stirling Moss today! #history
-
Andrew Benson, Chief F1 writer in Singapore
"Nico Rosberg makes something of an art of the concept of thinking positively, and he was at it again on Saturday. A win for either Mercedes driver would shift the momentum in the championship significantly, and starting second behind Lewis Hamilton means Rosberg is at an immediate disadvantage. He is not only seven metres behind, but also on the dirtier side of the grid, where there is less grip. That will be less of a factor after the monsoon rain of last night, but it's still there.
"A worry, I asked him? 'Not a concern,' he said. 'Very optimistic. Looking back at last year I actually went into the first corner passing Sebastian from the same position I'm starting tomorrow, so very optimistic.' What he did not mention, though, was that while he did indeed go into the first corner first, he did not come out of it there - he ran wide and Vettel was able to slip into the lead, never to be seen again."

Lewis Hamilton: One of the most exciting qualifying sessions I can remember!!
Nico Rosberg: My most difficult Q. but lewis did seven thousandths of a better job, so fair play to him.
Fernando Alonso: Best qualy performance so far this year in one of my favourite tracks!! Very, very happy!! Looking forward to the race

"'That,' said Lewis Hamilton after taking pole by 0.007 seconds on Saturday, 'was probably the most exciting qualifying session I've had for a long time.' The margin, though, should probably have been greater. Just as at Monza two weeks ago, Hamilton has looked to have a slight advantage on team-mate Nico Rosberg this weekend, and his pole came despite locking up at Turn One, a mistake that lost him nearly 0.2secs. The closeness of the margin left Rosberg kicking himself, though. 'When I think back at the lap, 0.007secs is nothing, a little bit here or there, you know, like "Come on!"'"

12:06:BREAKING NEWS- Nico Rosberg's Mercedes breaks down
Bit of breaking news for you. Nico Rosberg's Mercedes broke down and required a push start to get him going. "How about...oh...a big (bump starting) hand for Nico Rosberg," tweeted Mercedes. They are, of course, referring to the vintage Mercedes which the German used for the drivers' parade - but is it a sign of things to come?
-
Andrew Benson, Chief F1 writer in Singapore
"The heavens opened shortly after qualifying on Saturday, as if applauding the entertainment that had been offered up. The best qualifying session of the season has whet the appetites for a race that promises much. The two Mercedes on the front row, tension as high as ever between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg despite Hamilton's claim that their relationship is 'back to normal', and behind them the Red Bulls and Fernando Alonso's Ferrari, all looking at least as big a threat as they have been to Mercedes all year. And all that on a track washed clean by five hours of tropical rain, meaning tyre wear is unknown and race strategies will be manufactured on the hoof."
