Promotion advice for you!

Click-Thru

Click-Thru is one of the unusual and thus interesting promotion methods available. The basic idea of the service is that you visit some of the other sites that are using the service and in exchange, other webmasters visit your site. The more sites you visit, the more people will in return visit your site.

Having used this service back in the old days I must say that it isn't too useful when you're attempting to generate a good, steady traffic flow. There are a couple reasons why Click-Thru doesn't produce good results in most cases, and the most important ones are:

  • The users that will visit your site are mainly interested in getting others to visit their sites - they aren't really interested about the subject of your site.
  • Click-Thru has many low quality sites that make using it pretty annoying.
  • For each visitor you get, you're going to have to visit one site. Imagine yourself visiting 100 low quality sites each day just to get 100 visitors that usually don't spend a lot of time on your site.

However, if your site deals with subjects of interest to other webmasters, it might be worth it to check out Click-Thru, since the traffic flow you'll get by using it will consist entirely of webmasters, perhaps webmasters of ugly and boring sites, but webmasters nevertheless. If you're marketing a MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) scheme, it might also produce some results.

To sum it all up, unless the above paragraph applies to your site, you'd probably be better off using other promotion methods, since Click-Thru doesn't produce enough results compared to the amount of time and energy you're going to have to invest in using it. It should be, in my opinion, used only as a last resort if you cannot get a decent traffic flow by utilizing other promotion methods.
