Java & JavaScript

You have been directed to this page because you are running older browser software OR you have current software with Java and/or JavaScript disabled (shut off). Java and JavaScript are distinct modern Internet Computer Programming Languages used by web developers to add intelligence, depth, and a wide array of sophisticated capabilities & interactivity to web sites. If you are using an older browser that is not capable of running programs (scripts/applets) written in these languages you will have a far more limited Internet experience.

Otherwise, there's a slight change you may be running current browser software with Java and/or JavaScript disabled (shut off)? If so, it's easy to turn this capability back on. Referring to the menu items at the top of your browser window...

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 users go to Tools —> Internet Options —> Advanced
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 users go to View —> Internet Options —> Advanced
  • Netscape Communicator (ver 4) & 6 users go to Edit —> Preferences —> Advanced
  • Don't know what Browser Software you are using? Go to Help —> About
  • TIP: If you turn Java and/or JavaScript back on, you may need to close your Browser then reopen it to make the change take effect.
NOTE: Some of you may have received a message indicating something like "...This page cannot be displayed correctly because you do not have a Java or Microsoft Virtual Machine installed, etc. etc."? If so, it means you may be using a current Browser but without the Java Virtual Machine. A Java/Microsoft Virtual Machine is a fancy word for Java Interpreter, or that part of your browser that reads and executes java code. A current browser without a Java/Microsoft Virtual Machine is much like a new luxury car without A/C and a stereo! The good news is that (just like the car) you can easily add this Virtual Machine later. If you received a message about lacking a "Virtual Machine" then you will also be prompted to download this missing component to your browser - so follow the instructions that are provided.

Otherwise, why not upgrade to a current version of Microsoft Internet Explorer now???
