The John Paul II International Airport in Balice is located 15 km (approx. 10 miles) from the city centre (city bus transportation - Bus # 152, 208 and D). The Polish Airlines LOT offers direct flights from Cracow to Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome, Vienna and Zurich. Transit via Warsaw to Cracow from: Amsterdam, Bangkok, Berlin, Bonn, Brussels, Budapest, Cairo, Chicago, Copenhagen, Damascus, Dubai, Dusseldorf, Helsinki, Hamburg, Istanbul, Kiev, Larnaca, Los Angeles, Lvov, Lyon, Miami, Mediolan, Minsk, Moscow, Munich, Nice, New York, Oslo, Peking, Prague, Riga, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Tel Aviv, Toronto, Vilnius. Polish Airlines LOT also provide flights from Cracow to Gdansk, Poznan, Szczecin and Warsaw. Air France, Austrian Airlines and Swissair also land at Balice airport.


Direct international railway connections to Cracow from Austria (Vienna), the Czech Republic (Prague), Germany (Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt/M, Frankfurt/O, Leipzig), Hungary (Budapest), Rumania (Bucharest), Slovakia (Bratislava, Kosice), Ukraine (Kiev, Lvov, Odessa). Cracow is also linked with all other main towns and cities in Poland. The Inter City train trip to Warsaw takes 2.5 hours.


Many travel agencies offer permanent coach connections between Cracow and numerous cities in Europe. Traveling by coach, one may arrive from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Holland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.


Cracow is located close to important roads, highways and at the cross-road of E 77 (linking the North with the South) and E 40 (linking the West with the East). One may also travel to Cracow along the A 4 highway running from the West through Silesia.

 


Transport to the old town From the airport:

There are three ways to get from the airport to the old town.


Getting to town. You can reach the city by taxi for 30 to 60zl. Take your chances with the local taxi dirvers or alternatively we can arrange everything for you. You need to send a mail with estimated arrival time and flight number. We do not charge for this service - you pay only the taxi cost.

If you’re in less of a hurry to part with your cash, spend 2.50zl on bus N°152 which travels to the old town.
