Mark Berryhill Named Vice President of News of Meredith Corporation's Broadcasting Group

DES MOINES, IA - (January 29, 2002) - Mark Berryhill has been named Vice President of News of Meredith Corporation's (NYSE: MDP) Broadcasting Group, the company announced today. Berryhill brings more than 17 years of broadcasting experience to this newly created position, according to Meredith Broadcasting Group President Kevin O'Brien.

"Mark is a proven winner in the local television broadcasting industry, and we're excited to have him as our Vice President of News."
In this new position, Berryhill will report to O'Brien and will oversee the news departments, working closely with station news directors and general managers to help the development of news programming, ratings growth and to help prioritize goals and the direction of each newsroom. He assumes his new duties on February 4.
Before joining Meredith, Berryhill served as a news advisor to KRON-TV in San Francisco, part of the Young Broadcasting Group. At KRON, Berryhill helped the station with the transition from an NBC affiliate to an independent station. Prior to that, he was Vice President of News at KRON. Berryhill has also been a News Director for KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids, IA; KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, PA; and WHDH-TV in Boston, MA.
Berryhill earned a bachelor's degree in Speech Communications and Political Science from Portland State in Portland, OR.
