SPECIAL GUEST: Captain Bob Paxson

TAPING LOCATION: 30-miles off Atlantic City, New Jersey

During the summer months, large schools of bluefish gather off the coast of this popular resort city. Mark Sosin and Captain Bob Paxson chum these fish and also catch them on lures. The highlight is when a mako shark appears in the slick and Mark catches it on an artificial lure.

SHOW MSS016A

EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK

On Air: 1/19/02  Repeats: 4/20/02 & 4/21/02

SPECIAL GUEST:
Captain Andy Thompson

TAPING LOCATION: Florida Bay, Everglades National Park

Running across Florida Bay from Islamorada, Mark Sosin and Captain Andy Thompson probed the shallow flats of Everglades National Park in pursuit of redfish. They found plenty of targets. In addition, Mark caught a husky shark that kept hanging around the boat.

SHOW MSS017A

JUPITER OFFSHORE

On Air: 1/26/02  Repeats: 4/27/02 & 4/28/02

SPECIAL GUEST: Captain Dickey Dickinson

TAPING LOCATION: Atlantic Ocean off Jupiter, Florida

This show demonstrates that anyone can catch a variety of fish within a few miles of their home port if they know the waters. Mark catches king mackerel, jacks, snook, and other denizens within sight of the beach. The intrepid pair also chummed a couple dozen oversized bull sharks right up to the boat. These were the critters that caused most of the shark scares this past summer. Viewers can get up close and personal with some of these brutes.

SHOW MSS018A

ISLAMORADA TARPON

On Air: 2/2/02
  Repeat: 5/4/02 & 5/5/02

SPECIAL GUEST:
Captain Greg Poland

TAPING LOCATION: Islamorada, Florida

Anglers often travel to remote regions to catch tarpon and pursue them with all types of artificial baits. Tarpon are really scavengers and relish a tasty meal of fish guts. You can find them waiting patiently in and around many fish cleaning stations. Mark and Greg take advantage of this knowledge to catch several tarpon using discarded fish parts for bait.

SHOW MSS019A

BISCAYNE SLAM

On Air: 2/9/02
  Repeats: 5/11/02 & 5/12/02

SPECIAL GUEST: Captain Andy Thompson

TAPING LOCATION: Biscayne Bay, Florida

Every shallow water angler dreams of catching a slam. That means he has to land a tarpon, permit, and bonefish all in the same day. Andy Thompson convinced Mark Sosin that he could find those fish. The challenge started with catching a tarpon. Mark lost the first one and later caught the same fish with his first hook still in the fish’s mouth. The permit came next, followed by the bonefish. Surprisingly, the bonefish proved to be the toughest challenge.

SHOW MSS020A

MISSISSIPPI RIGS

On Air: 2/16/02  Repeats: 5/18/02 & 5/19/02

SPECIAL GUEST: Captain Bo Hamilton

TAPING LOCATION: Chandeleur Islands, Mississippi

Headquartering aboard a houseboat in the Chandeleur Islands, Mark and Bo probed the offshore oil platforms for cobia, jacks, reds, and a number of other species.

SHOW MSS021A

INDIAN RIVER COMBO

On Air: 2/23/02  Repeats: 5/25/02 & 5/26/02

SPECIAL GUEST: Captain Don Marinacci

TAPING LOCATION: Sebastian Inlet, Florida

Making the most of strong winds and rough seas, Mark Sosin fished the inside waters of Sebastian Inlet with live pigfish and pinfish. The weather didn’t cooperate, but the fish did. Mark landed a 30-pound jack crevalle after a tough battle. He caught more jacks on topwater plugs and released a couple of impressive redfish with one exceeding 25-pounds. This show demonstrates what can be done even when windy conditions keep anglers from their favorite spots.

SHOW MSS022A

TAMPA BAY COBIA

On Air: 3/2/02  Repeats: 6/1/02 & 6/2/02

SPECIAL GUEST: Captain Chet Jennings

TAPING LOCATION: Eastern Shore of Tampa Bay

During their southerly migration in the fall, cobia invade Tampa Bay and move into the warm waters of the discharge from a shoreside power plant. Here, they often follow eagle rays in a symbiotic relationship, eager to grab whatever prey the ray happens to spook. Casting artificial lures, Mark Sosin catches a pair of nice cobia along with some tough jack crevalle.

SHOW MSS023A

SHARKS ON A KITE

On Air: 3/9/02  Repeats: 6/8/02 & 6/9/02

SPECIAL GUEST: Captain Jack Callion

TAPING LOCATION: Florida Bay North of Marathon

The number of blacktip, lemon, spinner, and bull sharks that congregate in the warm waters of Florida Bay surprises many anglers. Mark Sosin was fishing in 10-feet of water just in front of a pile of abandoned lobster traps and catching Spanish mackerel. The sharks appeared in the chum slick, so Mark and Captain Jack Callion rigged a kite and dangled live mackerel from it. In the process, they caught a number of sharks on bait, artificial plugs, and even on fly. The footage of the sharks chasing the bait and grabbing it is compelling.

SHOW MSS024A

BACKCOUNTRY STRIPERS

On Air: 3/16/02   Repeats 6/15/02 & 6/16/02

SPECIAL GUEST: Captain Frank Granieri

TAPING LOCATION: Southern New Jersey    Marshes

Fishing the backcountry behind Atlantic City and just south of there, Mark Sosin and Captain Frank Granieri pursued striped bass in the golden marsh grasses.  These fish were in the shallows feeding and responded to a number of artificial lure presentations.

SHOW MSS025A

BISCAYNE BONANZA

On Air: 3/23/02   Repeats 6/22/02 & 6/23/02

SPECIAL GUEST: Captain Ken Collette

TAPING LOCATION: Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida

Biscayne Bay ranks as one of the most productive estuaries for the light tackle enthusiast.  Using spinning tackle, Mark Sosin takes on bonefish, permit, a 20-pound barracuda, and then battles a 160-pound bull shark on 16-pound test line.
