· Small Business
Administration (SBA): Economic
Injury Disaster loans are available to eligible commercial fishermen
and other small business owners in the disaster area. These loans
have an interest rate of 4%, a maximum term of 30 years and a
limit of $1.5 million. Eligibility is based on the financial
impact of the disaster to cover expenses that could have been
met had the disaster not occurred.

The deadline to apply for a loan is May 9, 2001.
· Alaska Division
of Investments: Individuals
with loans under the Commercial Fishing Revolving Loan Fund who
are unable to make their payments may file an extension application.
Application should be filed prior to the payment due date to
avoid late charges. The loan extension fee will be waived for
all loans on items purchased or refinanced for use in the declared
disaster areas. Tax Obligation Loans are also available to eligible
commercial fishing harvesters at risk of losing their limited
entry permits due to tax obligations. To apply, call the division

· Alaska Business
Development Center (ABDC): Commercial
fish harvesters can receive assistance with financial issues
resulting from the disaster. Contact ABDC at 1-800-478-FISH (3474)
