| Response to Attacks in Mombasa, Kenya and Beit Shean, Israel Secretary Powell (Nov. 28): "We condemn in the strongest terms the horrific terrorist bombing earlier today in the Paradise Hotel near Mombasa Kenya that killed at least eleven and wounded dozens -- both Kenyans and Israelis. We also condemn in the strongest terms the terrorist shooting at a polling station in Beit Shean in which three Israelis were killed and many more injured." [full text]

Little Amigos Secretary Powell stopped at the embassy during his official visit to Mexico City on November 26 and posed with the childen who attend the embassy day care center. Called the "Little Amigos" center, this facility provides day care to the children of embassy officers and Foreign Service national employees.
