Yahoo! JAPAN Announces Partnership with Google

Japan's Largest Portal Joins Google's Growing Sponsored Links Distribution Network

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- November 18, 2002 -- Google, developer of the award-winning Google search engine, today announced that Yahoo! JAPAN will join Google's network of Japanese advertising partners. Google will also continue to provide Yahoo! JAPAN users with web-wide search results, including more than 100 million Japanese language web pages, for search queries conducted on www.yahoo.co.jp.

Yahoo! JAPAN users will soon see sponsored links provided through the Google AdWordsTM advertising program. Google's AdWords ads are designed to enhance the overall search experience by providing users with relevant commercial information and also generate online advertising revenues for Yahoo! JAPAN. Google's Japanese advertising partners include Yahoo! JAPAN, NEC/BIGLOBE, and Excite Japan.

"Google's award-winning search technology is now available on Yahoo! websites worldwide," said Omid Kordestani, Google's senior vice president of worldwide sales and field operations. "Google's sponsored links will enable Yahoo! JAPAN to generate additional online advertising revenues, while providing its users with relevant, useful information."

Google provides search services to Japan's largest Internet sites, including Yahoo! JAPAN, Fujitsu/@Nifty, NEC/BIGLOBE, Excite Japan and All About Japan. In 2001, Google opened an office in Tokyo and began selling performance-based advertising products to a wide variety of companies, including Sony Marketing, Recruit Co. Ltd., and Zurich Japan. In July 2002, Google released a Japanese version of its AdWords self-service advertising product. Google's local client services staff helps Japanese advertisers acquire new customers at a high return on investment.
