October Report 2002
Report by Neiluis Geaney, dated October 29th,
2002.
The fishing in the Shannon estuary is very poor at
the moment, only dogfish and strap conger seem to be taking any
interest in our baits.
Shannon town angling club are holding a club
competition at Rinenna creek on Sunday week which usually fishes
great, its funny we have a great flounder venue just outside our
front door and we end up travelling miles for a few dogs and strap
conger.
Mackerel are still being caught at Dunlickey so if you want
to fill up your freezer with bait you better get there soon as its
getting fairly cold again - and you might even catch some
squid as well.
Herring are also being caught in the estuary in
Poulnasherry bay on tiny strips of mackerel. The beaches are not
fishing well either all I seem to catch is dogfish and whiting .
