6x Utility Trailer & Options

A great utility trailer starts with the design:

• Strength
• Towing Stability
• Design Versatility - to accommodate different needs.

For Strength and simplicity, the trailer uses standard steel beams with triangulation for rigidity.

Towing Stability, is achieved by adhering to the fundamentals and added options like a floating axle (adjustable for load needs) and a tongue long enough for proper vehicle spacing and maneuverability.

Design Versatility options include axle options for load and height, sides (options and variations), a top (or not), and an optional a fold down tailgate/ramp.

Finally, Flexibility options like a hide-away ramp, motorcycle stands, an aerodynamic front, toolbox mounting, and infinitely variable tie-down placement, etc. are also included.

Plans include the above (and more), in a NEW easy to build design.

Utility Trailer Technical Information:

• * Trailers built from these plans have beds with an actual size 1.5" wider than 6 ft. and 3.5" longer than the indicated length.
• Overall length including the tongue is 55 inches longer than the indicated bed length.
• Trailer bed height will depend on design options chosen and will range from 16 inches up.  (Bed height shown is a low 18")
• Max load capacity depends on the axle option chosen, and includes the trailer weight.
• Several options are included with the plans to provide a wide variety of function.  Some options are mutually exclusive.
• Trailer weight will vary depending on design options.  Weight increases with length and increased axle capacity.

Construction :  Requires metal working skills like cutting, drilling & welding.

* Load capacity is dependent on axle and material options.  It is also highly dependent on materials used, construction techniques, assembly methods and proper load application.  Load capacity does not include capacities for purchased parts such as the hitch, chain, axle, etc..  Always use caution, proper safety equipment and tie downs when loading and towing a trailer.

** Load capacity of dual axle trailers at 6000# is based on dual 3500# axles and appropriate load sharing axle mounting hardware.  Although 7000# is technically feasible, it requires perfect load distributation between the axles.  In practice this does not happen so we recommend a 6000# max.  Uneven load distribution will further reduce the trailer capacity.
