Some of your questions regarding Child Support can be answered in the following Frequently Asked Questions section.

An Income Deduction Order was signed on (blank) date directing payments through the Clerk's office. How can I have this issued?
The Clerk's office needs employer information and a Notice to Payer will be mailed to the employer.

How long will it take to process?
The employer has 14 days to comply with the order. If the employer does not comply, then the petitioner can contact the Self Help Center to motion the court.

How can I get visitation credit?
If the Final Judgment states that visitation credit is allowed, the Clerk will adjust the record upon notification of both parties pursuant to the direction of that order. If the order is not specific the Clerk will adjust the record only upon the entry of an order directing the Clerk to credit the case for a given amount.

My child/children have emancipated. I shouldn't have to pay child support any longer.
The Clerk will adjust the record pursuant to the Final Judgment. The record would be researched to confirm the date of birth or any other information to confirm emancipation. If the information is not contained in the court file the parties must supply the information or the documentation needed so the adjustment can take place.

Do I have to get another Income Deduction Order every time there is a change of employment?
No, if there have been no changes in the regular support amount another Notice to Payer will be mailed to the new employer if the employer information is supplied to the Clerk in writing. If there are any changes to the amount to be paid through the court such as the regular child support and or alimony, payment on the balance, payment on attorney's fee etc., a corresponding Income Deduction Order needs to be in the file for the Clerk to take action.

The following questions must be referred to the Pro Se Self Help Center at either the Main or South County Branches or contact the automated system (561-355-4655) to order forms through the mail.

Questions concerning Department of Revenue cases or issues need to be directed to the Department of Revenue at 561-837-5380.
